Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/16/09: Texas Gov Says The Lone Star State Can "Go It Alone"

Can we have Glenn when we go? The states that are left probably won't be using him anyway and we don't want him just to sit there on a shelf and get all dusty...

Maybe that's the way. We secede, take the majority of the states with us .... Californian's you may want to move soon... move the capital to San Antonio, and pick back up where we left off. :)

I don't believe the majority want secession to be necessary, and I am positive the majority does not want an actual civil war with the blood of Americans from any state being spilled. We are Texans, but we are also Americans. Unfortunately the question in my opinion is not 'should we', but rather at what point is it a necessity? It would break my heart to see it get to that point, but at the same time I cannot say I will absolutely never support it. If the United States of American and her constitution no longer stand then why stay? Do we have a responsibility to secede in order to keep alive the principals and values that made this country great? Again, I am not saying that I would vote to secede tomorrow. We need to try, while American still has a chance, to make the changes from within.

OK. I am with you now. Yes, calling out the Texas National Guard would be a move I could support and it makes perfect sense. So who would be that 'regular person' you would support to lead Texas? That's my issue... local and federal to be honest. We haven't had a candidate at any level in a long time that I could get completely behind.

I cannot say with 100% certainty that I would vote to secede tomorrow. (Texan.) Emotionally it sounds good, but there are a number of real considerations that would have to be debated and discussed beforehand. Personal (family in other states), local businesses that do business in other states, how to handle local business owned by corporations in other states, those Texans currently in the military, etc. That said, I can tell you that myself and most of those that I have talked to have been debating the pros and cons of that idea for some time now. If that vote were tomorrow there would be a very good chance.

As a Texan I would agree that Governor Perry has not been the perfect Governor... he's a politician. At the same time I would disagree with blaming him for the poor border security and trouble with illegal aliens. That's Federal and has been going on for a long, long time.

Because it is *SO* much more effective to have the UN shame him. It's worked so well in the past... Don't spank a disobedient child. Tell him your disappointed in him, openly discuss your feelings, and let him know if he does it again we will probably give him a time out. And if he doesn't sit still for the time out you don't spank him... you tell him you are disappointed ... discuss... threaten with another time out... and if he doesn't sit still............

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : GM CEO Steps Down, White House Backs Bankrupcy and Buyers Incentives

I would agree. As the government we have taxed, controlled, and regulated to the point where Capitalism is not allowed to work. If we would get out of the way and allow it to operate the way it was designed most of the problem companies would take care of themselves. Instead we continue to react by adding more of the same and then being surprised and or getting angry when it doesn't work the second time, the third time, the fourth, etc.

Over the next year we allowed the media and parties to start dividing us until all we were doing was throwing accusations back and forth. I wrongly expected this liberal and others to listen to me while I just told them 'their side' was evil. Please don't misunderstand. I am not suggesting compromising any of our values or principals to pacify those who want to take this nation down a path we know is wrong. Situations like Glenn getting the AG on the ropes last night... those have to happen because men like him are the ones that are really trying to steer us off course.

Thank you for this. It helped me to remember who I was then...an American...not a Conservative. A neighbor had moved in a days earlier and I had not introduced myself because of a fading Al Gore bumper sticker. On 9/11 his family and mine spent hours in front of my TV because his cable was not ready, not arguing that this was the fault of Presidents Bush or Clinton, but rather as Americans who were worried about the future of our country and of our children. Rather than finger pointing, we discussed what should happen next. His suggestions showed a liberal bias, yes, but I understood that bias did not mean he hated his country.

I would respectfully disagree. Glenn was extremely tough, but I didn't see it as mean. I'm glad he wasn't all warm, fuzzy, and sweet with this double talking thug... Glenn asked the questions that we all should be asking.
