Hardcore Faith : Radical Christians

Many people think that their faith should make them into some kind of superhero, impervious to all the crap of life. Christians, like everyone, gets highs and lows... this is called life. Being a Christian doesn't mean that we won't have good and bad days, it simply means we are now living for something... someone else; someone who is bigger than all of our problems and issues put together. I have learned over the years that although I have faith in Jesus I am still me, warts and all, but God loves me in spite of who I am a lot of the time. All I can say is that from my own experience I too felt this way... like I was trying to find water in a dry land. What I did was to really read and study the Bible... pray... fast... speak to God on a regular basis... become a regular churchgoer... give more with regards to time, money, love, help, etc... Find a good pastor who you can talk to. Find a good Bible study group that you can be part of. Find a good church family that you can belong to. As I said being a Christian does not take all the issues and hassles of life away, but it does give a way out from underneath them! Bless you in your journey... Let me know how you get on! Chris :)

Hardcore Faith : X-Rated

Thanks Jim for your comments. Many people don't realize going in that sex is as destructive as drugs and alcohol, as you pointed out. May God continue to bless you as you follow Him! Chris

Hardcore Faith : Should "Bullhorn Guy" Really Shut Up?

Thanks for your honest reply. It's true that many forget to include grace and forgiveness instead preaching a message of condemnation. There needs to be balance... we can preach challenges and even rebukes when needed, but we must always come from a place of love and mercy.

Hardcore Faith : Should "Bullhorn Guy" Really Shut Up?

You make a good point. However, what if that one that was reached by Bullhorn Guy becomes the next Billy Graham and in turn goes on to proclaim the Gospel to millions of people worldwide. I know the chances are slim, but that's what I love about all of this... we just don't who we are reaching out to. I must admit, Bullhorn Guy is not my style, but I'm sure the 'turn or burn' message still has it's place out there...

Hardcore Faith : Review: The Expendables

Hey Marcus, Glad you enjoyed the movie. I have several friends who really liked it too, one even saying that he saw it as a metaphor for the spiritual war going on all around us - personally I think that's a stretch (even for me... I can usually find a metaphor or two in most movies) but each to their own. I'm not here to condemn anyone, just to give an honest opinion of what I thought about the movie... that's all. Keep it hardcore! Chris

Hardcore Faith : Tall, Venti, or Grande?

Suzette, thanks for you two pence. The debate is still out as to whether I prefer big or small churches. I guess for me it depends on the intentionality of the various churches. The church is called to share Jesus with the world... so big or small let's do just that!

Hey Colin, Thanks for your feedback. I was told by a friend just to be myself and that's me... well, that's the nervous me talking up a real storm! I actually enjoyed filming this vlog way more than the ones last year, and plan to record 3 a week (minimum).

THX Rob! I'm actually looking forward to doing the videos this time around. I was so concerned with lighting and scripts that I forgot to have fun and just be myself. Watching some of my older videos I gave Keanue Reeves a run for his money! Glad you're still around man!!!

Hardcore Faith : The Summer of Love part 2: A Lesson In Bromance

Personally I would have to say that the best 'bromance' is between Chuck and his lifelong buddy Morgan (in the TV show Chuck)... This 'bromance' is the stuff of legend!

Hardcore Faith : Kyle Sweet (1956 - 2009)

Thanks for your rant... Firstly, God doesn't give anyone cancer. We live in a world tainted by sin and most cancers are a result of human failing (not God's). We eat food tainted by greed (GMO products) that have been sprayed with all kinds of stuff and had their genetic structures altered by Frankenstein type scientists. We breathe air and drink water that have also been polluted. Our cars put out pollution as do our factories. Some smoke, drink heavily, and do drugs. With all of this combined (plus lots more) should we be surprised that some of us will get sick? Secondly, God is in the healing business yes, but sometimes the healing that happens is internal (spiritual). Yes, God heals some people physically, but God is more interested in where we will spend eternity and as such he oftentimes heals the inner person. Just because we believe in God and decide to follow Him does not mean we get a get out jail free card with respect to living in this tainted world. Christians still suffer, feel pain and experience joy, just like everyone else on this planet. Following God is not going to make us rich, powerful, and healthy at all times, unless spiritually speaking of course. Cancer is nasty. My own father died of cancer and it was not nice to watch him die. And my heart goes out to anyone who has or is dealing with this horrible condition. Do I have an answer why God didn't answer my prayers to heal my father physically? No. But hopefully in the short time I spent with him before his death he allowed God into his life to heal him on the inside... and hopefully he is now sitting with God. You call it stupid to believe in this... I call it hope. What is your eternal hope in? Blessings Chris

Hardcore Faith : Let Us NOT Pray!

Thanks for your comment Dave, they are truly appreciated. The thing that I always ask when someone talks about "traditions" is, "how much of what we do as Christians could be classified as tradition?" One of the questions I often ask myself is 'why do we do what we do?' Is what we do based on Scripture or is it just what we've always done. Take the Sunday morning service. Personally, I would like to see churches doing something other than the 'worship sandwich.' But it's been ingrained into us by previous generations that a Sunday morning service consists of the following: worship, sit and listen to the preacher, sing one last song, and go home. I would love to see church families holding worship and prayer services, healing services, testimony services, and so on, to break from the status quo, same old same old. Personally I think it's a lovely thing to hear prayers at any time, because even if the majority of people in a school or council meeting may just be following tradition and doing what has always been done, what if one person was blessed by that prayer? Personally, I have been in secular meetings where I have been blessed by a prayer offered up by someone who wasn't even a Christian. And are we saying that God doesn't hear the prayers of the tradition followers? Or is God God? Able to answer any and all prayers bought before Him, regardless of who prayed it? Just some thoughts... Thanks again :)

Hardcore Faith : Avatar

Great insight. I love it when movies talk to people in this way - that they can then go and share their insight from a faith perspective with others. Thanks for sharing. PS: It will be a while before I trek through this 160 min's again... not that it was bad, but long! :)
