Interesting. I have the urge to write as well. Not publishing anything yet owing to the New Year phase dread. I wish for those days when we wrote everyday to come back. Happy 2011. Also, @Joe and you are younger to me. So yay?

Dude, I just went and bought the magic mouse. After a really long time. Have you gotten any software to add extra gestures yet?

Nopes. I've been on 04.26 ever since the 3.0 unlock. My comment was to thank sherif_hashim for his contribution to continue to find potential unlocks even for the 05.12 baseband so that if required, I can upgrade.

Thanks sherif_hashim and while I've been rigorously following the updates and been extremely careful, I would love to know that there are options for me out there. Thanks for keeping at it. Good luck and thanks to the Dev team for their contribution so far.

The only problem that I face in the iPhone3G is that MobileMe contacts syncing seems to go toast. I am thinking of ditching MobileMe anyway and hence it's not too big a dealbreaker for me. However, people who do rely on MobileMe - did you face the same problem?

I have the same problem. Despite having a contract free iPhone, I still need to unlock to swap sims whenever I am outside US. However, the battery life has taken a battering as a result. I hope we can bring it to the attention of iPhone-Devs. At the same time, it's good to know that the carrier name are back. However, an easy one recharge a day is happening iPhone 3G / 3.1.2/ 04.26 baseband

I am facing the same problem. After updating to ultrasn0w 0.92 and MobileSubstrate 0.93xx, my battery life is taking a major hit. Everything off, it still doesn't last more than 8-10 hours on standby (i.e. no calls/texting/wifi usage). I tried to completely restore the phone (not restoring from a backup). However, the problem still continues. Worse, the cell phone signal is a lot more sporadic. =(

Thanks for the clarification slugoo. However, I had unchecked the "activate" my phone. I still have my AT&T sim that take validates my phone and activates it with iTunes. I understand that it's cosmetic however, I really don't want any fees changing my carrier accidentally =D! And I am not even planning to install Winterboard. I am still alarmed at the increasing number of complaints regarding battery consumption by the 3.1 firmware.

Thanks to the dev team for yet another awesome release. I have successfully jailbroken and unlocked my iPhone 3G (sans contract, but still tied to AT&T) to 3.1 You are the savior for those of us who are locked into the devious ways of AT&T :) It has gone without a glitch. The only things that I am noticing are 1. There is no carrier logo/string [I am guessing this should be updated sooner/later] 2. The phone works perfectly. 3. I haven't faced any random crashes or weird spring board activity or unwarranted battery consumption just yet. However, in case I do find anything amiss, I will continue the post here.

I did try to use redsn0w. However, it hangs at "waiting for reboot.." Is it safe to use redsn0w when I previously jailbroke with Pwnage?

Even if you buy an iPhone3G / iPhone 3GS w/o contract, it's still locked to AT&T. And they won't be able to unlock it as per their deal with Apple. So I would recommend getting the iPhone 3GS from Hong Kong / New Zealand / France / Belgium if possible

After updating to 0.91-3, there is a problem whenever a signal goes down. It always defaults to No Service and only if you restart the phone, the signal is picked up. If that doesn't happen, all calls and texts are stopped. =| Any ideas, thoughts? This worked fine in 0.9-1

Hey guys, I wanna say, thank you so much for doing this. You've no idea how much it means to people like me who are valid, proper AT&T users but still don't have an option to change to the local sim, despite ginormous amounts of money for the phone and the monthly plan. Thank you. As soon as it works for me, I will definitely be contributing to your effort. Once again, thanks a lot!
