It only takes two signatures to place someone on a psychiatric hold in a mental health facility. After that doctors can evaluate the patient and determine if he is a danger to himself or others. If the family came forward and told the docs about his 18 previous crimes it would have gone a long way to making sure this guy was out of the public eye until he was better.

The system didn't fail him. The system and his family that is now making excuses failed US, and really failed the poor man who was murdered as a result.

Tragic. Sounds like every person in that car (except the baby) was being very irresponsible. What mother rides around in a car with her baby on her lap? I hope child services gets involved.

I agree about St. Mary's. I wouldn't go there to have a band aid put on let alone anything major, with one huge exception. Their Lack's Cancer center is very nice and many of the same doctors who work for Spectrum's Lemmen-Holton cancer center rotate through Lacks as well. Very nice facility.

The rest of the hospital though, is a dump.

Personally I prefer Metro over any other hospital in the west michigan area, beyond that I like Spectrum and Borgess.

Rosie is obviously still pissed at Leno for him not letting her guest host Friday nights like Joan Rivers used to do for Johnny back in the day. That was not Jay's fault though. Some blabbermouth executive asked Rosie if she wanted to before it had ever even been ran by Jay. Jay didn't like the idea so it didn't happen. That doesn't make Jay a bad guy.

Also, people talk about Leno giving a poor lead in to late local news and thus a poor lead in for Conan. However Leno was off the air for Conans first 3 months so the lead in was on par with what his competitors got. Conan just inherited the number 1 rated late night show and lost over half of it's viewers within those first 3 months before Leno started his new show.

Personally I like BOTH hosts and I understand NBC wanting to keep both guys but it's clear one of them has to go. It doesn't matter to me which one goes where. Let Conan keep the Tonight Show and Leno can go to Fox and compete. Or Jay goes back to hosting the Tonight Show and Conan goes to compete.

It will be interesting to see what shakes out.
