The ConHome panel was frozen quite some time ago and, given the historic roots of the site, is likely to favour Johnson. The Party has stated that many fewer members have voted than is indicated by the ConHome survey.

It's high time that local committee rooms had real visibility of the status of VoteSource on election day. Candidates still insist on maintaining a spreadsheet backup just in case VoteSource fails or is switched off, and even in local elections VoteSource seems to go to sleep in the afternoon once teller numbers are being keyed in intensively. Also, CCHQ's overly-clever TVT GOTV selections still include opposition supporters.

Conservative Home : Kamall contacts CCHQ over "many" Tory members still without a mayoral selection vote

VoteSource membership records are a real problem - as is CCHQ's whole approach to VoteSource. Our Association has worked harder than most to get the records up to date, but we have found that subscriptions on Merlin due to expire Jan 2016 have appeared in VoteSource as expiring Jul 2015. We are told that another release is on its way, but in the meantime when we ask CCHQ to fix errors we find that they have such a large backlog nothing happens. On the other hand, some associations don't use VoteSource, and didn't use Merlin or even Bluechip. Members of these associations may well be disenfranchised. They only have their own leaders to blame!

VoteSource nearly killed the campaign - no corporation would have take such a risk. The teller returns went into a black hole for hours and disrupted the GOTV, leading to strong constituencies holding on to activists who should have been dispatched to marginal constituency GOTV operations. Even now, the membership elements of the system need urgent attention. (There is no way to send out a membership card.) Will it be fixed for the membership selection votes for next May's candidates?

Conservative Home : Stephan Shakespeare: How the Prime Minister could be ousted in 2017

Cameron is a winner - unlike his many failed predecessors of the previous decade. Moreover, he is more popular than the Party. Only a truly charismatic leader could do better, but would centrist voters trust such a man with so big a job? Time will tell. Our local conservative association has lost members (mainly to UKIP) - but only in the over 65 age group: time is not the Hard Right's side.
