iPad has no 4.0 or 4.1. The last firmware was 3.2.2.

Glad to hear that's working well for you. Yeah the iPhone may not do as much as Androids but the quality is way beyond the competition. :)

If you mean one that isn't sluggish, 4.2 isn't sluggish for me, and seems to be on par with 3.1.2.
And yes, you can downgrade 3G easily without SHSH.
