tylerstanton.com : Pet Peeves XVII

I hate emails sent to several people through Facebook. I got sent one today asking if I could help with an event, so I replied in private so everyone who was sent the email didn't get a notification & email in their regular email. However, the other 6 people didn't show that same courtesy so when everyone decided to have a conversation, I got an email every single time AND a notification on facebook. That is so annoying.

I mean I had a stomach bug when I was in S. Africa & I was pretty darn excited when I got back & had my first solid poo. However, I did not take a picture of it & post it on fb. Geez people.

TMI on facebook status. A girl I went to high school with actually posted a picture of her child's first poo. I logged on to fb all innocently and had to see poo. I understand that's an accomplishment, but really... a picture?

Here's what I have to say to fans who hate on players who had a bad game. Brooks Conrad didn't wake up and say, "You know what? I'm gonna suck today. I'm going to ruin our chances of going to the World Series. Yep, that's what I want to do." Everyone makes mistakes. I felt so badly for him.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Finding out Justin Bieber is a Christian.

Yes and no. I think a lot of Americans claim they are Christian b/c they think it is more of a cultural thing like someone saying they are Jewish. People think because their parents or grandparents went to church or b/c they went to church at Christmas & Easter that makes them Christians. I don't think a lot of the people that say they are Christians in America would say, "I think Jesus Christ is my Lord & Savior & He died on the cross for my sins." Because if everyone that says they are Christians actually lived like Christ, then this country would be in a MUCH better condition.

tylerstanton.com : A Beginner's Guide to Tipping

I'm a server right now & I agree with everything you said except the part in your #2 point when you said it was okay not to tip 20% if you don't have it. Do NOT go out to eat if you cannot afford to tip you server at least 20%. Obviously if they sucked that's one thing, and they shouldn't be tipped 20%. However, keep in mind- how would you like to have your pay docked or completely taken away when you've slacked off at work or just had a bad day. Just something to think about... Also, if you stay at your table way after the meal is over, then you should tip more. When you just kick there we can't make money.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : What if?

not to start controversy on a well-meaning comment, but the question with DDT is whether or not it really is safe. environmentalists have good reason & science to back up their reasons for not wanting DDT used. i think as conservative Christians we are too easy to blow off environmentalist as being wacky liberals, but we all have a responsibility to this earth. plus, lots of studies have shown very negative side effects of DDT, so using it could just cause other problems. anyway, i understand where you are coming from but there is always another side to the story. best wishes!

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Facebooking your mission trip.

I agree & disagree. Times have changed. It's not 1983 anymore, so the comparison isn't really fair. However, I do think a lot of mission trips are probably too comfortable. However, what if providing people with some "comforts" gets them to go on a mission trip they wouldn't have gone on if they really had to rough it. I agree that's lame, but maybe that person will come back changed. Maybe they will go on another mission trip that's "rougher." Regardless of the accommodations, the work is still getting done. Overall I think Americans going on mission trips are looking to be just as comfortable as they are at home & they don't want to sacrifice much. I do think that's the wrong attitude. However, if we are going to say that, then why shouldn't we have to rough it at home? I mean you have internet access here & other luxuries. Why should "roughing it" be limited to mission trips? There's a thought....

trippcrosby.com : Can single guys and girls be friends?

I agree & disagree b/c of course guys & girls can be friends BUT what is the level of their friendship? For example, I have guy friends but I don't hang out with them one on one nor do I call or text them regularly like I do my girlfriends. We hang out in groups. I think that is totally beneficial. However, when you have a close friendship where you spend time alone & talk on the phone/text regularly, someone is gonna get hurt. Someone is gonna fall for the other & the feelings won't be mutual. I've seen a zillion times & it's usually the girl falling for the guy. Then it ends in hurt feelings & it doesn't end amicably. So I think there has to be some boundaries when guys & girls are friends.
