I could barely afford to replace the iphone that was stolen. it was such a disappointment to get it home and discover that I couldn't jailbreak it. At least it is unlocked to begin with. I'm still a bit confused. further down in the comments it says the baseband only affects the unlock, not the jailbreak. My iphone 3gs 3.1 is factory unlocked. Went to Hong Kong and bought a new one which is thankfully factory unlocked as they all are in Hong Kong. However it has 3.1 firmware. I'd even done the ECID thing through Cydia on the phone that was stolen. Now I'm stuck with what feels like half an iphone. Really appreciate all the hard work the dev team has done so far and hope they can find a way to jailbreak the 3.1 3GS without a downgrade.
