The logging industry relies upon low cost labor to to provide the raw materials at rock bottom prices. OSHA gives a nod, nod, wink, wink, and all the fat cats are happy. There seems to be an endless supply of loggers who so desparately want to feed their families that widows and orphans abound in this, and every other impoverished rural region of the USA.
Where's the highway named for deceased loggers (or miners, or farmers. or garbage collectors, or roofers...).
We couldn't survive without the labors of any of these unsung heroes.
Their jobs can be made safer. Safety would raise the price of the raw material.
The bottom line is, is it worth the price?

This law is long overdue.
I wish it had been written to include tow truck and other assistance vehicles, as well as tire changes.
One might think this action, changing lanes, would be an automic response to pedestrian work on a road shoulder, but more often than not, fools continue at 60 right along side of a worker.
Common sense failed, people died, so laws were enacted.

Everyone I know, who has not yet switched to the less costly satellite TV, has remained with TWC for ONE reason; The local TV stations. I am one of those subscribers. TWC customers already pay far more than satellite customers for the same - no, actually less - viewing and audio choice.
If TWC loses the local channels, and I see some other favorites may go too, they will lose a huge portion of their viewership.
That's OK.. Some of us just needed a small push to switch to the less costly satellite.
Looks like the time is near to start saving a few dollars.

Humans are not as well equipped to handle this particular task,
It's only a job for a well trained canine.
There are experienced, proven canine search crews for hire.
A large department might have their own canine crew.
It's not realistic to expect the same from a human.

Who is given the information about these visits to gain votes?
I currently volunteer to get the vote out. I attend meetings.
I make those annoying phone calls to talk to strangers.
I was just asked to go door to door in Utica this weekend.
This wasn't in the news. Who does get invited?
I don't understand what this is about?
I'm feeling a bit alienated here.

I can't understand why this event, and it seems ALL events, are covered AFTER THE FACT.
Time and again, I read about wonderful gatherings, festivals of sorts,only when they are over.
I have posted about this before, an article appeared about the upcoming Riggie Fest. I asked that when a date & location is selected, that it be announced. Next I heard was how wonderfully everything went.

If an article like this appeared a week ago, I can guarantee there would have been a lot more that 300 people in attendance.
