i don't see jerry giving sheffield too much playing time either. however, stranger things have happened, we are talking mets here.

i'd be willing to bet that daniel murphy will be out in left field, super early, tracking down high fly balls tomorrow at citi. not too worried about the kid, he's a solid player, and seems to have a sound work ethic. i'd hate to see his development (yes, he's still working stuff out), hindered by sheffield.

my hopes are that maine, and pelfery spend time with livan, and learn how to better relax their minds while pitching. i also have these hopes for ollie, however, it seems that it'll take a mastermind to break through his thought process. maine, pelfrey, and ollie all have the raw tools necessary to be dominant, it's all about blind confidence for them. once they cast aside their doubts, they will be better than average.

understood, however, i've not seen tatis play second, and jerry manuel has spoken of the possibility of tatis spending time there. hence, i'd like to see tatis there before we write him off. in a perfect world, we'd not have to even entertain the idea of fernando tatis playing a single game at second.

however, when you're not hitting anything at all, it probably makes more sense to plant the bat on your shoulder.

seems to me, castillo should have to be fighting to keep this gig. splitting time with tatis might just do the trick. then again, i'd be willing to bet that he'd quickly lose the job anyhow.
