Can't. In order to do so, even if it was possible, he would have had to actually have made a decision. As we all know, his inability to act decisively prolonged the event and put further risk on the captain. In the same vein, though, why do you think that he has not been take to task for being responsible for the deaths of 3 black teenagers?

The short answer to your question is yes. I'm afraid that most Americans are too self-absorbed to care about things very long. They have a shorter attention span than Glenn. They are largely emotional and when the emotion wanes, it's over. As for "torture", I agree with you. We should be allowed whatever means necessary to extract info from terrorists. Remember, the Geneva Conventions don't apply to terrorists. We are/were fighting a group that is not part of any country's army who doesn't wear uniforms, etc. Also, for officials of one administration to have to fear that, even though they acted within the limits of the law, they would face prosecution at a later date because of political differences, severely hampers the function of an administration. Prosecuting Bush admin. lawyers for such opinions would amount to just that. It is a dangerous can of worms to open. Then again, in the future, could BO admin could be prosecuted for not upholding the Constitution? Maybe even treason? Is this now a banana republic?

Absofrigginlutely. In NY we have two senators who are, by virtue of Hillary's appointment, are up for election in 2010. This is a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to work to ensure that our constitutional rights are never infringed by some international treaty.

Of course he's smiling. He just upgraded his standard of living 100 fold. Upon conviction he gets 3 hots, a cot, cable TV, and a new special friend named Bubba. Upon appeal by the ACLU, he has a chance to walk free in the greatest nation in the world.

Mike, I subscribe to Rush Limbaugh's philosophy that we shouldn't shut them up. After all, they do have the right to speak their mind. Instead we need to keep them around as examples to those complacent individuals who don't think things can ever go that far in the wrong direction. What we need is what I gather we and others are doing: write, speak, and let your elected representatives know that we have allowed our government to take too much of our freedom and riches and that they need to get the people off the Great Government Teat.

I see Glenn's commentary as more pointing out that Paul's choice of "mascot" was unfortunate given that person's propensity for violence. He went on to say that he "gets it" and its ok to raise money as you see fit as long as it is used peacefully. He in no way insinuated that Paul and his supporters are terrorists. I also feel that his statements about the disenfranchisement of the American people are consistent with what he says today. I, therefore, reject your notion as a stretch of fact. As for the data base, if you file a tax return, drive a car, vote, own a gun, have a CCW permit you are already in a FBI data base. So if you believe that this country is great but the government has long since overstepped its bounds, stand up regardless of what data base you find yourself in. We need people to speak out against what we perceive to be appalling intrusion and infringement on our fundamental rights guaranteed under a Constitution that is currently under attack from many fronts.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/17/09: President Obama Makes A Surprising & Strong Statement About Assault Weapons

I believe Obama when he says HE won't ban assault weapons. HE doesn't have to. He has the most anti-gun administration in history. Eric Holder and Hillary top the list, but it goes deep deep deep. Factor in his appointment of Harold Kho as legal advisor to the State Dept. and we can look for transnationalism to creep into our legal system and those "living, breathing" folks will have plenty of precedent to ban whatever is banned elsewhere in the world. This doesn't even include the potential for outrageous taxes on guns and ammo, having the military destroy brass to deplete the supply on the market and drive up prices, and a whole host of other options. Oh yeah, don't forget Rahm (don't waste a crisis) Emanuel. You just gotta know he's got some tricks up his sleeve.

Yup. They took all the guns away in England and now they want to ban knives. Some people are just a bit dense.

No people or society has been subjugated without being first disarmed. What these people need to remember is that we have rights that existed long before there was government. Those rights come directly from God. The Constitution guarantees those rights and limits the power of government to infringe on those rights. The Constitution sets up government as the guarantor and guardian of our rights and borders. You don't need to look too closely at what is going on today to see our government has not only overstepped its bounds by miles, but has failed miserably in its most fundamental duties. Those that look upon the Constitution as a "living, breathing" document have allowed our rights, freedoms, and morals to be twisted beyond recognition by judges who look for Progressivism to adapt our laws to the changes of society. So off we go to Hell in a handbasket. This loose, secular, amoral society that has evolved will take an awful lot of turning around. Perhaps several generations. Maybe just in time for our grandchildren to put a dent in the national debt.

It has all been said. To the grabbers, "Assault Weapon" means "mean looking". To the "moderates" it is "Is it used for hunting and sport". To the anti's, guns are the problem for all violence, just like we all know pens are to blame for misspelled words. The solution to all the problems in our country and Mexico is to bring back the (It'll sure make Hillary tingle) Clinton Ban. No sense saying what folly that is, I'd just be preaching to the choir. I'd like to propose a much better and more comprehensive solution. Since the cartels , contrary to Admin. claims, get the majority of their high-powered weaponry on the global Black Market and through dealings with regimes like Barry's new friend Hugo. And since the cartels are totally dependent on their flow of cash to conduct their operations, I propose the "Obama Ban on Cash". That's right, you heard it here first. Ban cash and quit printing money. All we're doing is printing more and more of the stuff the drug cartels need the most. If we ban cash, they won't be able to do business. Of course we aren't holding our collective breath, are we? Barry and the Congress who are spending like a bunch of freshmen with their first credit card need to print more cash to finance their junket into multi-generational debt. Wait until the inflation hits. The cartels can use all that cash to cook their enchiladas.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of these sites are springing up with a similar name for some sinister purpose. Don't for one second think that this administration wouldn't have already launched countermeasures to combat a movement such as this. One way is to divide and conquer. Dilute the opposition and split them into factions and it becomes much easier to label them as splinter groups, kooks, nut jobs, terrorists, etc. This not to say that some or all of these sites are on the up and up. I'm just saying be careful. If all of these groups are who they say they are, then we need to look to unification for common goals under common leadership.

Wow. They're getting hammered. I sent one to Matt Lauer for slobbering all over Napolitano and spouting bogus, manipulated statistics about the guns in Mexico. I just sent one to MSNBC about Garafalo and Olberman. I also sent one to Fox saying I'm not watching 24 or supporting their sponsors until Garafalo's character is written out of the script. Let's face it, if they want a frumpy, unattractive, insecure actress to play a frumpy, unattractive, insecure geek, I'm sure they can find another one.

Trish, do what I did. I just wrote this above to Reagan_1980: I second that. In fact, I wrote a letter to him yesterday basically saying that when the Republican Party comes up with candidates with enough gonads to tell their constituents that they are not getting the federal money they have become used and to ween them off the Great Federal Teat, to look at every line in the budget and get rid of anything that doesn't have to do with the Constitutional responsibility of the government, and to completely do away with earmarks, perks, and other wasteful spending, then they may have my contribution. Until then, the only contribution they will get from me is the 42 cents they will save each time they don't send me a request for a contribution. Get rid of the Progressives on both sides of the aisle.
