Have you ever found a job standing on a street corner? Most jobs are given to those you go to work sites, or places of business. Holding a sign that says, "will work for food, God bless" is not looking for a job. That's called looking for a handout. And I never said that people aspire to be homeless, but if you are running from a crime or choose to let drugs and alcohol rule your life, then living on the streets, off the grid so to speak is a choice not an aspiration. We use to have laws, as a matter of fact we still do, that made it a crime to live on the streets. But now we have things like the Day Labor site, so if the city of Portland doesn't care about breaking the law why sould street criminals?

What I think is funny is how condescending liberals are. What a great burden of guilt it must be for you to know that there is so much injustice and poor spelling in the world.
Yes, by all means, lets put those poor homeless victims of crack and heroin to work. Instead of them stealing metal and art work around the city, maybe they will want to pick a crop or build a house!
Get real PDXBOY, the large percent of the homeless population are homeless by choice. And any additional tax dollars spent on them do nothing but create more of them. Just like giving a junkie that stands next to a freeway on ramp $5.00, all you are doing is supporting his or her habit.
