KY3 : Celebrity roast for retiring U.S. Senator Kit Bond next week | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfie

Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease. Please let’s spend money on eradicating it and many other diseases that torture American families every year. I sometimes wonder why the State of Missouri (and MODOT) spends tens of thousands of dollars every year repaving roads in Springfield that were just fine before. Seems like the monies could have been better directed to preventive science IMO.

I wonder how many people a year (impaired or not) stay to the right on the interchange, despite all the signs indicating where to go? I bet it is a big number. I have a coworker who said he gets confused every time he gets to it!

KY3 : Thief steals car left running to warm up in Springfield | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfield, M

I agree in that a thief will do just about anything to acquire his (or her) loot. I merely put forth the opposing scenario of a locked running vehicle as opposed to an unlocked one. I discovered how to lock a running car when trying to lock my dog in the car in hot weather to prevent him from over-heating while I spoke with a person outside the car. The 2 key method usually works. I know however that if a thief wants your car, he (or she) will/can take it whether the keys are in it or not.

There is an alternative to leaving it running "un-locked". Even cars that have the anti-lock function while the car is running but no one in the drivers seat, all you have to do is lock all the doors but the drivers door, get out and use your spare key to "manually" lock the drivers door. Tada! your car is running and it is locked. Thieves are the scourge of the earth. A person that steals has no morals and no conscience (and no future if the law catches up with them). There are always alternatives to surviving other than theft. If someone has the propensity to take what does not belong to them, they will not stop at just property. Eventually everything and everyone around them is at risk, including life and limb. Teach your children young that thievery is an unacceptable resolution and stay involved in their lives, even as young adults to ensure they are not swayed by peer pressure or bad influence down this road of personal destruction.

Kudos to the Springfield Fire Department! Great job! I always hate to hear of families losing everything they have because of a fire. Especially this close to the holidays, but at least the surrounding buildings were saved by the expert abilities of our brave fire fighters. Keep up the good work. gr8

Regardless of your political beliefs, I am always disgusted when I hear of email "cover-ups" and other methods of concealment in Government. I have a rule I follow in business as follows: If you are true to yourself in business and maintain the highest standards of honesty, you have nothing to fear. It is sad that this simple rule seems so hard for our elected officials to learn.

Space heaters are very dangerous products to use, yet their benefits are often necessary or greatly desired. There is always someone trying to build a better mouse trap so hopefully someone in the near future will build a better/safer space heater. The number of lives and property values saved would be staggering numbers I'm sure. I think the only safety feature on one of those things (besides the grounded electrical cord) is the "automatic shut-off mechanism if knocked over. Most deaths and fires result from bedding, curtains or other "near-by" materials combusting due to their close proximity to the heater. If I were a King for a day...

KY3 : Commercial Street task force sends report to Springfield City Council | KY3 News, Weather, Sports -

I fail to see how C-Street will ever be a "tourist attraction". I might expect persons to come to C-Street to patronize a business that provides a product or service they require or desire. I believe the probable outcome of Springfield City Councils attempt of revitalization of the Commercial Street area to be the creation of a nice place for the homeless to hang out at the expense of the taxpayer (reference the area CID, TIF and city-wide sales-taxes that were voted in despite the fact the very act of increasing taxes will probably increase the number of homeless, thus exacerbating the issue). I have always believed that getting the vote out and placing representatives' that align with the majorities beliefs in public office was the way to better our community, but I have recently been frustrated at every turn due to the seemingly incompetent methods used by our public representatives' to achieve their goals. I can speak on this issue because I manage a business on the East end of this C-Street mess and just like Mary Collette, I witness firsthand everyday the results of this path the City Council has chosen.

KY3 : Springfield police probe link between home invaders and victims | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Spring

Home invasions are a terrifying trend. It seems I hear more and more about scumbags forcing their way into homes while the occupants are still there. Two things I would say, One, these persons obviously don't have a "normal" respect of life (because if someone broke into my home while I'm there, they will leak when they drink water, if you get my drift), and two, the penalties for home invasion should be mandatory 40 years to make sure the sanctity of home is satisfyingly perpetrated against them (in jail). If it was the attempt to collect drug monies, the act of invasion alone show these persons care nothing about other innocent people who get in their way. I have zero compassion for people who blatantly endanger the lives of other people. Thieves are the scourge of the earth.

There is an adage of "Buyer Beware" that applies to all used items, from cloths dryers to baby beds. Unfortunately, many of us can not afford to buy new every time and depend on oversight programs to assist the often unwitting consumer. Kudos to the Attorney General's Office for keeping these unscrupulous dealers at least looking over their shoulders. The most important tool though is not the Attorney General's Office, it is you. If you believe something is not right when you buy a car, it does not cost anything to call the Attorney General's Office (toll free) and check.

The persons that stole this stuff obviously have some very important lessons to learn. One is that stealing is one of the lowest actions they can perpetrate on their peers, with nothing gained but bad karma and the beginning of a life looking over their shoulder. Two, they will make new friends in jail that will influence them in the wrong way, further distancing them from a productive role in society. Third, when the new life road and lowlife crowd they will be with, it is just a matter of time before one of their "friends" decides to steal either their hard stolen property or their very life since there is no honor amongst thieves. Parents, please know where your children are and what they are doing. Do not allow them to run their future underground because of a lack of attentiveness.
