Metal is fantastic. The tone, aggression etcetera match anti-religious sentiments quite well. The recent Deicide album was good. Metallica, even though they are on the softer side by comparison, had some religious themes in songs like "The God That Failed", "Master of Puppets" and "Leper Messiah".
My last big find on a Top 10 Metal list was "Gojira - L'Enfant Sauvage" in 2012. Massive album, massive tone. A great band with an environmental twist. Have not been able to get past them so far.

Outspoken atheists are simply putting forward their opinion. One facet of that opinion is the idea that religion is a disgusting, controlling and systematic brainwashing exercise. Obviously Christians wouldn't agree with this opinion, just like they don't agree with obvious observable facts when it suits them.
Atheists should be far more outspoken and use it as a means to eliminate the apparent criticism free ride that religion has gotten away with for centuries. Criticism is a healthy part of a normal society which is why religion is abnormal and self righteous.
Just my opinion.
