if i got my official carrier back in australia to officially unlock it, could i then use it with another carrier? or have i screwed the handset until Dev Team comes up trumps?

i can't even use it as an ipod, calendar.....nothing...zip. Is this to be expected?

Hi there, I am a novice and newby at this. have a 3G iphone and jailbroke and unlicked it 2 months ago using redsn0w. Today I mindlessly upgraded to 3.1 (busy mind elsewhere) and you know the rest. Can only make an emergency call on it now. I do have access to an official sim card for the carrier, but want to be running it with another sim. ie: back to functionality i had on 3.0

any help please
