GazetteOnline.com : VIDEO: Kirk Ferentz at I-Club breakfast this morning

We are so fortunate to have this man as our head football coach here at Iowa. He never fails to represent our beloved Hawkeyes with class. He personifies the Hawkeye values we all hold dear. Way to make us proud Coach Ferentz. One game at a time to the promised land, go Hawks!

GazetteOnline.com : VIDEO of Josh Koeppel's appearance Tuesday on the Today Show

I think Josh did a great job with the Today Show interview--he is a well-spoken young man and a lucky one too---thankfully he wasn't seriously hurt! As a side note to the whole incident, this was good advertising for the Iowa FB program. One game at a time to the promised land, go Hawks!

GazetteOnline.com : O'Meara named Big Ten special teams POW

That a boy Paki, that a boy! I'm so glad to see Paki O'Meara get some positive attention for his contribution to the Hawkeyes' recent success, he's the type of player who is happy to do whatever it takes to unselfishly help the Hawks win. And he seems to be able to ignore the snarky comments on various sites about his RB abilities. He is the kind of ultimate team player which is a hallmark of the Coach Ferentz era. One game at a time to maybe the sweet smell of roses, go Hawks!

GazetteOnline.com : Hlas column: That 35-3 win over Cyclones last year means zero to Hawkeyes now

I got out of the score prediction "business" last year when all the Hawks seemed to do was win by a much closer margin than I thought it was going to be. I don't know if the Hawks will win easily or not as far a the scoreboard is concerned, but I agree with Coach Ferentz that it figures to be a very tough game. Alll they have to do is win, and it would be way nice if they looked good doing it. One game at a time to the promised land, go Hawks!

GazetteOnline.com : A Boise State win over Virginia Tech next Monday could be bad for the Big Ten (and Iowa?)

I know many Hawkeye fans have dreams of a possible run to the National Championship game, but I am dreaming of a run to that grandaddy of them all of which you speak Mike. On my bucket list is a trip to the Rose Bowl and a WIN. Hey, we can always go to the NC title game next year, right? But first, one game at a time to maybe smell some roses, go Hawks!

I like your proposed divisions a lot swessdawg! But I have to admit I like just about any divisions which put Iowa and tOSU in different divisions.
GazetteOnline.com : Playboy likes the Hawkeyes (picks them No. 5 in its preseason college football rankings)

I’m REALLY EXCITED for the coming FB season, although I’m always a bit wary of super high expectations for my beloved Hawkeyes. Can this coaching staff and this group of young men ignore their press clippings and just get better each week? Can this group of Hawks put away more teams before the last quarter? If they can’t put them away early, can they win the close ones like they did (most of the time) last season? I know most everyone wants to have the Hawks get to the NC game, but I would surely "settle" for a WIN in the ROSE BOWL this season and then worry about the national title next season! Stay tuned, it should be another very exciting ride. Go Hawks! P.S. I'm not going to worry about what Playboy thinks of our team, but i AM going to buy the SI Big Ten Preview edition. I just can't wait for this season to begin!

GazetteOnline.com : No Wegher, but plenty of RBs to see

Of course I want Wegher to come back soon but, assuming he does, what would be wrong with having him use his red-shirt season this year and then have three mor seasons after this one to be a force for the Hawks. Especially with all three of our top RB's being clasified as sophomores at this time, wouldn't a red-shirt year for Wegher help the cause quite a bit? Of course I'm assuming that ARob and Hampton are able to stay healthy during the season. But, if they did get hurt, you could take Wegher's red-shirt off at that time. What am I missing here? Go Hawks!

Is it the best case scenario to go into Columbus with your chances of going to the Rose Bowl riding on the arm and leadership of an inexperienced RS freshman QB? Certainly not, but I for one think JV will play at least a week better than he did against the Wildcats. It's the O-line, the defense and special teams who have to step up and help the RS freshman win this game. Anything can happen in the 'Shoe and it usually does, so let's leave it all on the field. Go Hawks, be fired up and ready to pull off a stunner!

GazetteOnline.com : ‘Cost us a touchdown and a quarterback’

Hey Marc, Good article. Say, did you happen to see the photo of the end of the play when Wooten took down Stanzi? It is obvious to me (if not to the refs at the time) that Wooten got ahold of Stanzi's facemask on the way down. How could the refs miss that? I thought it was one of the most one-sided called games I had ever seen even before I saw the photo, now I'm really wondering what was going on with that crew of officials. I know the outcome can't be changed but I wish the Big 10 office could see that photo at least. Go Hawks!

I know it will not change the outcome of this game one bit but I felt it was a totally one-sided game from an officiating point of view even before I saw the photo of the obvious facemask by Wooten as he brought down Stanzi in the endzone that wasn't called and wasn't REVIEWED. Keep in mind that in a game where there were several very close calls there was not ONE play/call reviewed in the whole mess. What a shameful job by a crew of supposedly big-time officials. I hope this photo gets forwarded to the Big 10 office so at least the supervisor can see more evidence that many Big 10 officials don't have what it takes. Go Hawks!
