In the name of safety and protection the government on all levels is not so slowly taking away all of our civil liberties, in favor of government controlled commerce. The worst part of this whole thing is it is happening on both sides of the isle. Both Conservatives and liberals tend to step on the civil liberties of people in favor of government control. The only way around it is to strike some sort of balance between strict conservatism and libertarianism, where there is some very limited protection for those who cannot defend themselves, but greater personal responsibility to allow for greater freedom. Most of these regulations strongly favor larger wealthy corporations who lobby for these things in an attempt to snuff out smaller entrepreneurial competition.

Take a serious look at the reaction of Boehner verses the reaction of Harry Reid. Reid was in a tight race, Behner was not. Behner reacted with gratitude and humility, Reid however reacted with smugness and disdain. I think a real look needs to be taken at possible voting fraud in Harry Reid's district!

Since the whooping cough was brought up I will give a case in point: Iowa recently had an outbreak of whooping cough, it broke out worst in the high schools and in the adult population. Over 95% of those who got the disease were immunized, I don't know of a death statistic, but obviously the immunization was not lifetime protection. As parents we should be allowed to decide for ourselves and our children what vaccines and when to give them, based on our own research and disscussions with our doctors.

I do find the increased rates of autism that seem to coincide with the increased amounts and younger dosing of vaccines somewhat disturbing, but not necessarily proof positive that vaccines are at fault, there could be numerous other reasons, like increased use of epidurals during labor, lower numbers of mother's breastfeeding, etc. That being said, I do not believe that our governments local state or otherwise should be mandating vaccines like chicken pox, hep B and the other one for HPV. There are several other diseases that as long as you are healthy and not immune compromised it is better for you to get the disease than to be vaccinated, because surprise surprise the vaccinated immunity can wear off where natural immunity does not. I agree that Ms. McCarthy is neither qualified or educated enough to be someone anyone looks to for any kind of roll model. That being said, I am not an anti-vax mom, I am a delayed vax mom. I do not put my kids in day care (if they were they would have been vax'd early), so their risks of catching most things is less than the possibility of bad side effects from the vaccines. I think we have too many vaccines, and we are putting too much stress on young systems way too early, even before their immune systems are developed enough to handle it. I believe this has the possibility of damaging a child if they are predisposed to that damage (there was a court case recently regarding this, but it wasn't an autism case). Continued...

I think he is a true believer. Obama truly believes the line drawn between republican and Democrat is strictly Big Corporations vs Unions, so he sees it as the evil businesses against the working people. I hate to break it to you Mr. Obama, but the lines is not that black and white. Members of both parties have their hands in the pockets of big business, and the Tea Party is attempting to oust those people from the Republican ranks, the Unions however are worse than big business and they own you Democrats lock stock and barrel.

Please forgive me for assuming you had any intellectual integrity. I mentioned FICA and Medicare, you obviously have trouble paying attention. The other taxes you mention are not federally mandated for the most part, except for energy taxes, which the left seem to think need to be continuously raised, and those tax hikes really do only hurt the poor and middle class. I have lived below the poverty level, but I was raised with something in short supply lately, pride. I fought my way out by putting myself through college (which I am still paying off because that is what responsible people do) and got a good job. I didn't accept food stamps or welfare payments, and I lived in apartments, rode busses, and worked for minimum wage, so point your finger elsewhere. So instead of using your sophomoric made up words that the press had a field day lambasting President Bush for give me a real mature argument.

How do you give tax cuts to people who don't pay taxes?? 47% of the population do not pay taxes! Everyone should have some skin in the game. If you say payroll taxes count you are a fool, those are supposed to be used for SSI and unemployment benefits. Did you know that of the 47% who pay NO taxes many of them have a NEGATIVE tax rate! You can not give a tax break to someone not paying taxes, and since they are getting extra money they did not earn the government is stealing that money from someone else who did and giving it to them because the government's only source of income is taxes. That does not stimulate the economy, it only encourages more people to be less productive.

The problem I have is when one side or the other masks their agenda with racial politics, or personal attacks because they do not have a good argument to defend their position. If you think Universal Health Care is a good idea say so, and have evidence to back up why you believe so, don't tell me I don't care about children or people because I don't agree and you don't like me pointing out that Universal Health Care leads to rationing as it has in EVERY country it is currently or has ever been done in, and even with rationing it is causing those nations to become financially insolvent. If you disagree tell me why, don't call me a racist and say I don't care about the poor. So give me a real arguement instead of calling someone a witch because she dated a guy in high school who took her to a graveyard.

Obama was raised by upper middle class parents traveled the world, was put into the finest schools by his mother's and grandparent's money. He did stumble and fall into the drug scene and recover, which is highly commendable. He did study, he got a degree from a rather prestigious school, and that too coming from a broken home is quite an accomplishment. He is from the outside a good and devoted husband and father, supportive of his very successful wife. Now is where our decision making lays. No one with an intelligent argument name is trashing the character of Obama, except to draw contrast to the treatment he has received regarding his admitted drug use and and the suspected drug use of Bush Jr. The real issue lays in ideas. Obama believes in government solutions and central planning over private solutions and smaller localized governments with autonomy. O'Donnell believes that private solutions work better and the central government should be very limited and small and the local governments should have more autonomy. Now without the name calling we the people get to choose whose vision we agree with and want governing us.

Wow, they attacked her for an IRS tax lean mistake, and how long it took her to get and pay off her tuition for her Bachelors Degree. They attacked her because she had to sell her house and some other possessions to make sure her family did not go bankrupt. And then when she sored over it and proved how it was a strength he had to poo poo as background doesn't matter. Oh it really does matter! He came from a silver spoon, she and her family brought themselves up by their bootstraps! We need people in government who represent us because they understand us, not elitists who have no clue what it means to be a real citizen!
