My Dad was a small farmer with 80 acres. He had wanted to apply for the programs, but it didn't pay enough for him to do it because his land was so poor. Only produced about 50 bushel of corn to the acre. In the same County a farmer owned 3000 acres and received several thousand dollars in subsidy payments. These programs have only encouraged large corporate farms at the expense of the small family farm. As with the unions, they have run their course.
