So I never thought Hutch actually died, he was shot the same was Geordi was, and a lot of the "working" on Geordi was to get the visor to be a sonic weapon... was it confirmed in the ep that Hutch actually died?

Otherwise, Die Hard in Space! Fun! But, I couldn't help but notice that while Picard didn't kill most of the people, he did leave them for the Baryon sweep to... turn inside out? Or whatever horrible thing it did? This has bothered me since the first time I saw the ep as a kid. Killing them straight up might have been kinder.
