This is "not" the story. The story is yet to come. I'm not believing this story.
When we were growing up [I'm 63], I know that my mom and dad sometimes had a very difficult time keeping all of us fed. We may not have had what we would have liked ..., but we ate what was put in front of us. We didn't have "free lunches" ..., we didn't have "free food". My mom and dad had to work for it. And, if there was no work ..., they went fishing ..., or hunting ..., but they always grew what they could themselves. We were never made to feel that we were poor. As long as I can remember ..., we never felt poor. But now that I look back on it ..., and I read and hear what "poor" is, I guess we were ...., but somebody had to tell me, because it wasn't my mom or dad. "Poor" is a state of mind. A state that I don't care to live in.

Yes, but the daughter also stated that her mother had mental issues, was an alcoholic and drug abuser, and was very guilty of abusing her and her brother when they were young.
If she was abused I empathize, and have nothing but compassion for the lady. But, after listening to her daughter the other night, I'm left wondering. I can't say one way or the other right now. It's going to get very complicated.
I'm okay with the verdict. I just think that this couple needs a lot of help, and I hope that they get it. I have a mentally handicapped aunt, so I fully understand how difficult it can be. Gosh, I've had professionals from her group home call me because they didn't know how to handle certain situations. It wasn't their fault ..., she can be a handful sometimes. (:
We live a short ways from this horrible incident. What was going on last night? There was police activity in the same area at about 10:00 p.m. Streets were blocked off ..., and police seemed to be hunting for somebody. Was that a different incident, or was it part of the same?
