Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Next coach doesn`t have to be \'family` - Buffzone

If anyone's listening, Coach Barnett's comments yesterday should be heeded. CU's problems are higher up than Mike Bohn when it comes to a firm commitment and providing leadership to the athletic program, particularly football. Congrats to Coach Hawkins for finally taking some responsibility. Too bad he waited until his last day on the job to do so.

Chancellor: 303-492-8908. President Benson ('64): 303-860-5600. 63 years of conference football play and they're gonna let worst coach in CU history get blown out by arch rival nebraska for the grand finale? FIRE DAN HAWKINS NOW! PS: be nice to the ladies answering the phones, they just work for suckwads.

The administration doing their homework? You mean like they did their homework the last time, or having a consistent leadership and decision making structure? Pre-Nebraska/Big 12 Championship: "Gary Barnett's job is safe. We're not considering a change." Gary Barnett Finds out he's fired through the Denver Post: "Ooops, we wanted to say we were gonna get rid of him all along.....we have a guy in mind". Here's $4 million Coach. Pay consultant $100-150k, then hire Hawkins without DOING HOMEWORK: "we got the guy we wanted. we will never get into a situation where we have to buy out a contract like that. See, Hawkins buyout is only $850,000." Hawkins goes 6-7 in season two. Give him 5 year extension with $1 million/year buyout. Can't fire him after year 4 because it'll cost $3 million. Hawkins gets fired after year 5. Here's $2 million Coach. This article is pure fantasyland. Boner and Stinkano hired a guy just like themselves: won't take any responsibility. They're the same clowns in charge of the next search, and the DC expects them to carry it out with informed precision. Will have pissed away $6+ million and 5 years of dreadful football execution.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Recruits trickle in for CU Buffs football team - Buffzone

The DC waffles more than a pandering politician. And the search is supposedly on, with the dynamic duo in charge of the next selection, in secret. Gotta cut out the entire cancer before the healing can begin. Remove that pile of "i'll take all the credit but no responsibility for bad decisions" chancellor from all athletic decisions, cut the strings off the puppet of an AD and leave him behind in kansas before they're allowed to screw this up again. Without leadership and a clear university commitment to the program, recruits cannot even make an educated guess. Great leaders make tough decisions and assume responsibility for them. Heck, even good leaders do that. Is it true that there's no cost to a mid-season firing? Wow! Sorry big buffalo, there's 4 clowns in this circus.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Foundation has improved, but CU\'s next step is vital - Buffzone

And so what's the tally on the recruiting scandal in Boulder as faithfully reported by the DC? One assistant head coach guilty of calling prostitutes on his cell phone................Rape accusations that were widely reported but never fully prosecuted..........Two foot in mouth comments "C%$t is a term of endearment in old literature...."-hoffman and "she was a terrible kicker"-GB. Where's the investigative piece on the Boulder DA who called the news conferences to accuse the University of criminal conspiracy (rape cover up) and why there were no prosecutions? Where is that DA today? The boner: The Good: Getting AD finances in order; The Bad: Hiring the Pigeon without due diligence; The Ugly: Giving him a multi-million dollar extension for a 6-7 season and beating OK on a muffed punt inside the 15. The media feeding frenzy and overly reactive university administrators knocked this football to it's knees. Boner and DiStephano hired the Pigeon and handed him a match and can of gasoline to burn it to the ground.

It's all about the money. How much does it cost to keep the pigeon vs. waiting til the cornhole pummeling to end a 5 year tenure that truly leaves the program "burnt to the ground"? How much did CU save by keeping this clown for one final year of embarrassment?

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Dan Hawkins\' fate is Mike Bohn\'s decision - Buffzone

These guys (Boner and Stefano) couldn't hire a good head coach if one bit them in the a$$. They will hire a one man outfit who promises discretion at the expense of actual due diligence, blow through athletic department money to the tune of $100k+, no one will actually do any research (real research like talking to former players/coaches rather than performing an FBI background check), and they'll hire the wrong guy on the cheap. Oh wait, they already did that. Had they actually figured out who the real deal was in Boise, they could have hired the right guy and saved even more money. But that takes real work and assuming responsibility for your decisions. We (buff fans) are going to leave this decision once again to the fools who made the last one and expect a different result. Ha.

this offensive philosophy is the same as the last four years. no identity. they didn't adjust the offense to the players they had before, and despite what he's saying, it doesn't seem like they're adapting now. sounds like it's guesswork until the first game of the season. scary. good work kyle, had to laugh when you stuck him with the "so it's week to week" strategy and he actually agreed. as for the qb, timing and reps are important, just as having a backup is on a winning team. we're not a winning team. it's really simple, if cody is the backup and goes in, he pads his interception stats and we lose. so there's no need to give him that many reps. Wasn't the VK supposed to be counting the reps Hirschman's getting. what's the tally there?

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Buffs\' best and worst in the Big 12 - Buffzone

Neil, add another worst: An administration so focused on not having to shell out $1 million plus to get rid of a coach who makes neiweisel look like a hall of famer that they keep him on for one more lame duck season, sinking the program to a new low. In the process making the AD look like a puppet and buff fans hanging their heads in disgust. And a switch to the Pac leaving fans with one highlight for the final Big 12 season before the carnage begins. Future worst: This years' pummelling in Columbia, MO setting the stage for a long season of record blowouts.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Baylor lobbyist gets creative in evaluating CU - Buffzone

Get a grip. Tx is the prize here and CU is just a chip being played. The Pac-10 wants TX and is dangling the CU-Utah angle to force their hand (they did, demanding a commitment from Cornholes). Time to send reps to Mizzou-Nebraska to create some new rumors and make a play of our own (Big 14 has got to be better than the MWC). Pac-10 doesn't want Baylor, but they'll hang the buffs out for bait as long as it takes to get TX. The goal should be to screw the dustbowl, not get stuck with them. Dancing with the Big 10 may force the Pac 10 to act. It certainly won't hurt our position. That position being CU leadership with their pants around their ankles while everyone else decides who takes us home. Shameful. Reactive, uninspired and uninterested. When the announcement comes, the boner will again be on vacation.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Bohn says CU, five other Big 12 schools likely to be invited to Pac-10 - Buffzone

Terrible idea! The reason the big 12 is in shambles is texas attempts to take it over by moving all football championship games and basketball tourney (re: empty arena) to that dustbowl of a state. great, everyone's all excited about traveling to see games on the coast but your annual schedule includes tech, oky state, ok, a&m, horns, AZ, A-State + 2 teams out of the "old" pac 8 and they ain't all in california. we're better off trying to convice the traitors of oklahoma that tx is gonna screw them and invite utah + 3 NON TEXAS schools. no doubt the boner and the sparrow will think this is a great idea. don't forget there's a puppet master somewhere that uses the boner as a mouthpiece. By the way, please lobby for me to play the lead role in the upcoming film: "the burning of the buffalos" where i take over a football program and burn it to the ground right before the dui prone chancellor sells out the old big 8 to seed the soil with salt for the next 20 years.
