Poor guy. As a parent of an eight year old, I can honestly say that all we can do is teach them the best way we know how and hope they make the right choices. My eight year old daughter has been taught time and again to look both ways, and guess what? She STILL doesn't. That is precisely why she is not allowed to cross the street alone at all, ever, for any reason. And I surely don't let her or her sister roam the neighborhood unattended. Whatever the reason for this tragedy, I am crossing my fingers that this little one gets better and hope that his family is pulling together.

I work at the Biggby Coffee at Fuller and Leonard and actually heard this accident occur as I was leaving the store last night. The victims in this awful accident have names. They are REAL people. It was a life-changing experience for me to be there helping during the aftermath. The teenage girl was fine, but shook up. And the motorcyclist, well, let's just say, he was smart for wearing all the proper gear for riding, or things could have been a lot worse. A LOT worse. I stayed with him and talked to him and wiped the sweat off his brow and held his hand. I was honored to be able to help the paramedics stabilize him and get him on his way to the hospital. He is a very brave young man, and I am inspired at his strength as well as his ability to get through it all and remain so calm. I have not heard about his condition or how things came out for him, so if anyone knows, please pass the info on. And people, I URGE you to use my rule regarding motorcycles: Anything I give to anyone on the road (right of way, extra bumper space, whatever), I DOUBLE it for motorcylclists.
