The problem that we are facing is that climate change has become a political instrument. The Republican Party has decided that they are going to put their heads in the sand and deny the scientific truth. These are the same people that would have cried at the finding that the Earth was not flat. It's not that Republican politicians are ignorant of the science, although certainly that is the case for a lot of the grassroots Republicans. Most of these politicians know full well the extent of damage that this will do and have taken their callous political careers ahead of the planet. Take for instance John McCain. Until he faced a primary challenge from a conservative Tea Party sympathizer, he believed that climate change was caused by man and CO2 should be capped. You won't hear him say anything to that affect anymore with radicals on the far right breathing down his neck.

That's completely untrue. The scientific community has come to a universal conclusion: 1. climate change is real 2. it is caused by man. Yes, there are natural cycles of heating and cooling, but the rate of temperature increases over decades goes well beyond anything in historic climate records. Like I said, we could continue to ignore this, being ignorant of the warnings of scientists, or we could pursue a clean energy future. Frankly, the only thing you lose from choosing a clean energy future is pollution that causes cancer, asthma and other health problems (as well as wars). America should start to lead on clean energy instead of being beholden to oil companies that are destroying our environment.

Climate change is a global event. There will always be a variance in temperature at a local level. In fact, scientists have stated that climate change does not necessarily lead to warmer weather every year, but instead vast fluctuations and more unpredictable patterns. This has definitely been the case in Indiana and other parts of the country. Blindly ignoring the reality that global climate change threatens mankind does nothing more than ensure that future generations will inherit a world that is much more hostile to them than what we currently enjoy. For those that simply want to see warmer winters in Indiana, keep in mind that you are wishing for that at the expense of literally billions of people across the world who will be suffering from extended droughts in arid regions and floods in other regions. The economic impact is going to be vast. One only need to look at Hurricane Katrina to see how expensive it is going to cost.

WSBT South Bend - Your Local News Leader : Dems’ likely Senate candidate — Ellsworth — visits South Bend | WSBT - News, Weath

I'll proudly be voting for Mr. Ellsworth for Senate and Joe Donnelly for Representative in November. Two Democrats that stand with working class people to lower the cost of health care, fill the donut hole for seniors, end insurance company abuses like pre-existing conditions and expand health care to 32 million uninsured. America is better because of it.

Thank you Joe for standing up to the insurance industry! There's a reason they've spent over $1 million per member of Congress. They and the Republican Party are only interested in protecting insurance industry profits and could care less about the 45 million uninsured. This bill isn't perfect. It needed a strong public option, but it is better than the status quo, which is disastrous.

Undoubtedly you would be complaining if the Obama administration had given money to this venture saying that he is wasting money on an unknown company. That if investors weren't willing to take the risk, why should taxpayers flip the bill? It's a lose-lose for the president when it comes to pleasing Republicans.

Of course someone from Mishawaka (probably Mayor Rea!) is going try to scare people about crime. Eddy Street Commons beats anything Grape Road has to offer and will drive traffic to South Bend. Thanks to the city's leaders, Notre Dame and Kite for bringing such a fantastic retail district to South Bend!
