The Daily Blarg : I\'m Worth It-Part 3 Things I\'ve Learned This Week

Yay! I'd like to try a meal replacement in the mornings too. Will have to look into that. Diet Mt. Dew is good, especially when it's really cold. Tastes almost like regular.

Is This Mike On? : Going through the motions

It sounds like you are on the right paths. And you care about your wife, kids and others. That is really important and meaningful in and of itself! I am finding personally that without a written schedule, I have no time management skills and I find myself not making time for others, especially phone calls to mom, etc. With a written schedule, I do more productive things and schedule the time I need to for myself and others. (It wasn't always this way. Hindsight has been 20/20!)

The Daily Blarg : I\'m Worth It-Part 2 And Why the Maire Claire Article Made Me Grateful

You are MOST worth it, Steph! I read "the article" as well and it infuriated me. I couldn't believe they would even publish it, anywhere, under the Marie Claire name. It was terrible and thoughtless.

It's so tough. I worry about mine as they get older because it feels difficult now. The teenage years haven't even hit yet. From what I've read over this last year, you really get it, though. The whole dad thing and what's important. I hope things turn around and you're out of the dad-funk soon. Having kids is such a joy and such a worry - making sure they will grow up safe and happy and okay.

The Daily Blarg : We\'re so Classy-Redneck Flowbee Edition

Oh my gosh that is hilarious! We have to try this. It took a second to figure out just what the hose was for and then it clicked and I burst out laughing. I'm still laughing. The cuts turned out good, though.
Caught up on google reader - your posts have been great, as usual. I, too, was never a country fan but slowly am coming around. I find myself leaving it on when the other channels have commercials. Sometimes I listen just to make fun of the lyrics but lately I find myself even liking the songs!

Look at you go! That's excellent. Still time to get into trouble but hopefully it flies by. I get paranoid leaving Mr. V and the kids on my Friday free days. I always wonder what the house (and sink) will look like when I get home. =)

Is This Mike On? : Haircut nightmares

Oh, the dreaded haircuts! This is so difficult for kids and parents! On the one hand we (usually) need haircuts on the other it can be so tramatic. We buzz cut our sons hair and he just cries the whole time. But otherwise it's in his eyes. Mr V and I have to psyche each other up for the upcoming struggle as the hair gets longer and longer: You up for cutting his hair tonight? Nope, me either. Ugh. It's tough!

Is This Mike On? : It's not about the money

Yes, it's the little things, isn't it? =) This movie made Mister Valentine and I cry. It was so close to home with having lost our home and credit, selling things, etc. Then, the fire, lost jobs, etc. We have come to realize life is definitely not about having things. Having each other, our kids, finding happiness in what we do have - it's the little things like spending the day together. Though there are days I wouldn't turn down some Calgon and the winning powerball ticket, I've come to be okay with less. We'll never be wealthy, but we are very rich.

Is This Mike On? : Confessions of a Drive-Thru Dad

How true "these moments won't solve everything". But they sure help, don't they! I'm struggling most recently with mine wanting attention on complete opposite ends of the house - and I've got to choose to help one and not the other, one always seems to have hurt feelings (of course, I get to the other asap, but they don't get that I was trying: their feelings still got hurt). It's tough, finding that balance between online and offline, kids, bills, work, play, quality time, etc.

Is This Mike On? : I'm not a stalker

Mr V is such a good people watcher. I always get nervous and think they'll see me watching them! My stepdad once set up his video camera at the disneyland hot dog stand after realizing the mustard squirter wasn't working. The film he got was fabulous. So many different reactions. You make a good point, though, I think it's a great way to sense when people need help, too.

The Daily Blarg : My Little Science Experiment aka Put Chick-Fil-A in My Mouth

Lol! Mr Valentine keeps craving meat, too, through our science experiment. I did see some carls junior wrappers in his car recently. I think he's been "meating" on me!!! Tisk, tisk! ; ) I've been craving nachos with lots of cheese. That chick-fil-a looks so super good right now.
