My father told me at a young age that in order to engage in adult conversation about politics, one has to be able to express each side of the point in question. I feel I can accurately take the liberal side on the issues and argue them. When I engage in a discussion with a liberal, or when I watch them on TV or read their articles I get no sense that they understand or want to understand my side of the issue. It seems most of them want to set up strawmen or cartoon versions of the conservative viewpoint. I think this disconnect is one of the reasons why opposition to Obama is so widespread.
