I believe many individuals on McCain's team were left-overs from Romney's failed campaign. I think they actually wanted McCain to lose so Romney could win in 2012. That would explain the terrible campaign they ran. Unfortunately, when Sarah was selected it suddenly looked like McCain could win so they had to do everything they could to discredit and attack her.

I'm reading "Life at the Bottom: The Worldview that Makes the Underclass" by Theodore Dalrymple. It was a book recommended by Thomas Sowell. It is one of the best books I have EVER read. It fits this discussion perfectly.
