To the women who chose not to get the vaccine during pregnancy, that is their own choice and I will never think that they were wrong in their beliefs, however I wanted the vaccine and wasn't able to get it in time before I got H1N1 (and I got it from a damn kid that was a dinner guest who wasn't showing signs until the next day, so I tried really hard to avoid expsoure..) It was pretty awful and I'm grateful that I was able to get Tamiflu because it was what made my fever break and allow me to keep fluids down. Considering I was 8 weeks along, I would have preferred not to have H1N1 at all and would have gladly taken the vaccine but couldn't get it in time. My baby is fine from what we can tell (not born yet, still have 7 weeks to go) and I hope that the exposure to the fetus from my high temperatures and dehydration didn't impact it during one of the most crucial times for development. I know plenty of pregnant women who chose to get vaccinated against H1N1 and the seasonal flu, I think it has to do with one's personal assessment of risk and what they want to do with their bodies.
