Is there any way to tell on an unopened Iphone 3gs (box), which firmware is loaded from the factory? I have a new one I bought a little over a month ago and the store was hit or miss depending on the models at the time if it had 3.0.1 or 3.1. The phone is a 32 gb 3gs. Thanks!

I follow your replies. Thanks for the input. Here is my situation both phones are either 3.0 or 3.0.1 from the factory. They just glitched in the jailbreak or update process going from 3.0 to 3.0.1. I have not upgraded either phone to 3.1.X to avoid screwing up my baseband for Unlock purposes. My question is can I not load a custom firmware or restore through a Dev Team tool to avoid Itunes upgrading to a newer Firmware. I have been following the developments for awhile and I am trying to not screw my BB up to preserve unlocking. THANKS!!

I have two Iphone 3gs on FW 3.0.1. I had one jailbroken and loaded Cydia. There were some issues so I decided to restore to original. During the reset there was an error so it hangs up on the Apple screen and will keep rebooting. The 2nd phone is hung up on the apple screen and was updated to 3.0.1. How do I restore them safely without updating to 3.1 or newer so I can still unlock? Thanks
