Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 7/28 PUT DOWN THE TWINKIE! Obesity Is Costing Us A Fortune

Back when the big push really gained momentum against "Big Tobacco", I recall warning my over zealous, anti-smoking friends that they'd better beware. I told them that today they're banning smoking in more places and taxing tobacco, but tomorrow they may be coming after your Quarter Pounder w/Cheese and side of fries. They all laughed at me because "that could never happen in America", they'd tell me. Oh, really?

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 7/28 Not All Bumper Stickers Are Created Equal

TunaBlue: While I do understand your frustration to the prior post, perhaps you shouldn't just dismiss bamaboy as a racist. My interpretation of what he's written isn't that he's a racist just because he said, "I am sick of this black crap being forced on us." I take it that he's saying that all freedom-loving Americans need to fight together, no matter what background you come from, in order to preserve our freedoms and the country that we all claim to love. It wouldn't hurt you to pick up a history book either. I must admit that, as a registered Republican, it does bother me that Lincoln was also a Republican. Lincoln broke every single rule upon which this nation was founded in order to "preserve the Union". The Civil War was fought over state's rights versus federal intrusion. That was it...period. Was slavery an issue? Yes, of course it was. But, it wasn't the main issue. After all, if it had been the #1 issue for why the North/Union went to war, then why didn't Lincoln emancipate the slaves on April 13, 1861, (the day after the Confederates shelled Fort Sumter and the war started)? After all, that would've caused instantaneous chaos in the South and may have stopped the war from escalating any further. As it turns out, he only emancipated them at a point in the war when things weren't going so well for the Union. So, yes, the over-arching issue of the Civil War was state's rights. If you stop to think about it, it's been since that War that the Federal Government has grown in exponential power. Your assessment of how the Republican Party has been the only political party that has consistently fought for civil rights is true, of course. You're also correct when you say that the Democrats are responsible for the modern day enslavement of blacks. It breaks my heart that all too many of them just can't see it. But, take it easy on bamaboy because I think that he's just saying that we need to stand together and fight this would-be tyrannical machine that is the Obama administration. Perhaps he just could've worded it better.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 7/28 While Camp David Sits Empty, We Rent A Mansion For The President's Vacation?

I know that more and more people do appear to be waking up to the scary reality that is Obama. I've talked to several people who voted for him, and now wish that they could take their votes back. If he ends up being a one-term president, it'll be because "we the people" show up in record numbers to vote him out on Election Day 2012. However, like yourself, I must admit that I've begun to wonder if he'll even give a chance to vote him out. With all of the community organization groups that he's aligned himself with, there's no doubt that he's got a massive "army" of civilians who are willing to do his bidding. 2012...by then, we'll know if we'll have a free election, or if we'll be trying to take our country back by any means necessary.

While this article angers me, it doesn't surprise me. My husband and I earn a good living. We're not "rich" by any means, but let's just say that we do a wee bit better than average. Thanks to Obama's promises that there will be higher taxes coming down the road very soon, we decided to forego a vacation this year. (For the record, we don't make anything near the "magical rich level" of $250,000, but we're not stupid and we know that we'll get taxed out the ying yang, too. Anyone who is an achiever is going to be penalized.) So, yeah, I'm angry about this. The rest of us are all tightening our belts, trying to hold on to our jobs, and trying to ride out this recession. All the while, our "great leader" is throwing expensive dinner and cocktail parties at the WH, going on extravagant date nights, and is now apparently too good to stay at Camp David. He's not concerned with what any of us may be going through financially, regardless of whether or not you voted for him. So much for being down with the struggle...

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/16/09: United Airlines Says Big People Have To Pay More

Wow...What a touchy subject. To me, this is a no brainer. Facts are facts...larger people take up more space and therefore should have to pay for the extra seat...period. I, too, have been a passenger on a plane and had to endure a 3.5 hour flight practically smooshed up against the window simply because a large person was sitting next to me. As fliers know, coach class isn't that comfortable to begin with. Then, to have someone "invading" your tiny bit of space, just makes it all the more uncomfortable. Perhaps this seems like a cold and cruel thing for the airlines to either implement or consider, but they really don't have much of a choice. Maybe one day there will be bigger planes that offer a lot more space, but we're not there just yet. Besides, even if we were, the airlines couldn't afford to buy the larger planes anyways. You know, we have a lot of problems in this country. Just one of the problems that we have is that we want to classify every type of problem as a "disability". I know that the growing obesity rate is a problem in this country, but I refuse to list it as a disability. As soon as it's been given that classification, then it absolves the obese of any culpability for their own actions. I'm sorry, but obesity just doesn't occur naturally. Yes, I realize that there are those rare cases of people who have some sort of genetic or hormonal problem. These people do have a legitimate medical condition that would and should be classified as a disability. But, over all, most people are obese because they won't stop eating. Now, before any of you start replying to me and ranting that I'm not compassionate, I just want you to know that I've been on both sides of the obese fence. I struggled with a weight problem for almost 20 years. I used to feel "victimized" by the thinner world. I blamed everyone and everything for my weight problem until I woke up and realized one day that I was the only one to blame for it. From that day onward, I took control of my life in all areas...including food. I learned to love myself more than I loved food. As a result, I lost all of my excess weight...without having to eat nothing but "rabbit food". So, don't go telling me it's not a self-control issue. If you don't like paying for an extra seat, then lose the weight.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : The White House orders a name change in the War On Terror

I agree with you. Except, this same president also want to trample on everything America stands for. I guess it's hard for these guys to call a terrorist a "terrorist" since they each want the same thing...they just go about it in different ways.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : New Baby Boom Reveals Some Surprising Facts

There is absolutely no shame attached to unwed mothers, be they teens or older, anymore. I'm too young to remember a day when unwed teens who got pregnant weren't allowed to attend their high school while pregnant. I'm too young to remember a time when these girls/women were "sent away" to have their babies. I'm also too young to remember a day when a pregnant teenager or single woman brought shame to the family in general. Today, it's just part of the norm for there to be as much excitement over a baby born out of wedlock as if it'd been born to parents in a committed marriage. There's no longer a stigma attached to this. Society, as a whole, just doesn't care about this sort of stuff anymore. We've learned how to rationalize everything away. Perhaps if society would find its moral compass again, then there'd be a decrease in these illegitimate births. It all comes back down to morals and personal responsibility.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 3/13/09 - 3/19/09

I'm so thankful for this website. THANK YOU, GLENN! It's awesome to realize just how NOT ALONE we are. I'm tired of the politics as usual. I don't agree with the Democrats. Lately, with the exception of a few, I find myself not really agreeing with the Republicans. All I know is that many of us believed in Newt's "Contract with America" and we voted them in power of Congress in '94. All of that was for naught, though. Once they got in power, they too often acted and spent just like the Democrats! So much for the "contract". I just don't trust any of them anymore. This is OUR government and it's high time we stop allowing it to continue wallowing in the cesspool is has become. They don't represent us anymore, but they sure like to spend our money...and our kid's money...and our grand kid's money...and our great-grand kid's money. Glenn is right when he says that we ALL have a voice and we can't just sit back and wait for him to do everything just because he has a microphone. But, he's been the catalyst that we've needed. He's lit the match...now let US be the wildfire that burns and brings REAL change to OUR nation. "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." - Samuel Adams
