Also, we had 2-Marines who were facing court martial, and decided to defect. They knocked on the door at the first house they stumbled upon. The guy who lived there was a Major in the Cuban Army. They were eventually flown to Rota, Spain where the U.S. Military took custody of them. Never found out what happened to them, but I'm sure it was the end of their military service.
