This is good info. My 3G was shredding the battery when I had email PUSH on. I was connected to an Exchange Server and apparently it was so chatty that it ate the battery in an hour or two. Turned off PUSH and much, much better battery performance.

I'm going to turn off carrier search and see if I don't get even better. Thx.

Works with T-Mobile USA ... still got the 'No Sim' confusion, but who cares!

It turns out the answer is no. The password can be anything.

Does the root password have to remain 'alpine' for ultrasn0w to work?

Smooth and awesome. Jailbroken 3G, Cydia installed ... what kind of bugs should we look for?

I was given an iphone 3g as a gift and the gifter knew I was not an AT&T customer and also gave me a flimsy sim-rider that allowed me to use TMobile. Yesterday the update took place (I dim-wittedly went ahead) and Apple has apparently done something to stop the sim-rider from working. If I downgrade to 2.2.1 SW will the rider work again? Or is the problem with the 4.26.08 baseband that I now have?
