Holding socially conservative views is "right wing fanaticism"? We haven't all been brainwashed by the pc dogma that homosexuality is to be celebrated and we want our kids to be gay.

You seem to be pretty long in the tooth, middle-aged when Maggie Thatcher introduced clause 28 thirty years ago, but that didn't stop you supporting the Conservatives.

And with the Muslim population increasing so quickly, the trend to revere homosexuality as the new right-on fashion may not last forever, although you won't be around then.

PS you may like to take a leaf out of your own book about tolerance for those holding different views.

Davidson is just as hard line and inflexible on gay rights as the late Conservative MP, Teresa Gorman, was on abortion. She was/is most unhappy about a pact with the DUP because of their Christian views on what constitutes marriage. Soubry is almost as militant on gay rights as she is on the EU.

They would both pass the hard left test on this aspect of cultural marxism and intolerance.

Whatever the merits of that comment, how is it relevant to the article?

You've made clear you're supportive of the latest transgender movement which is all the current rage in the political village and metropolitan circles but of less interest to most.

On the utilitarian philosophy that the greatest happiness of the greatest number should be the guiding principle, a Coalition between the Christian Democrats and SPD best satisfies that outcome, since they were the 2 best supported parties.

Q: When is a Conservative not a Conservative?

A: When he is a Liberal.

Isn't Mrs May and the Conservative Party fortunate to be able to rely the "conservative" DUP to remain in govt and steer through legislation. If the militant gay rights voices of Ruth Davidson, Justine Greening, Anna Soubry and others held sway there would be no arrangement/coalition since the LDs would have held May's govt to ransom over the EU.

Surprising the writer made no mention of the BAME factor which must swing a lot of seats to Labour. When John Major won a majority of 21 in 1992, there were several in Birmingham and even more in London which went red in the Blair landslide but have never come back and probably never will unless the BAME can be won over.

How much longer will constituencies with high ethnic areas like Wycombe, Pendle and Crawley remain Conservative?

Right wing journalist, and descendant from a suffragette family, Ruth Dudley-Edwards, is under no illusions that Millicent Fàwcett with her large following was the real hero with her long, patient, campaign while Emily Pankhurst had a much smaller union and was a violent man hater who alienated potential support. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5360587/P....

Edwina Currie is yesterday's Anna Soubry, a copybook Blairite adopting his social liberalism on homosexuality and abortion, neoconservative on foreign issues supporting these crazy wars where no innocent country had been invaded by an enemy nation and a fanatical supporter of the EU. I wonder whether her adulterous affair with John Major was the only reason she didn't join the now entirely discredited New Labour rabble.

How you can champion Currie and Janet Young, who were as different as chalk and cheese, in the same breath seems hard to fathom.

Incidentally, why as a born and bred Liverpudlian does she speak in a home counties, cut glass voice, like Nadine Dorries another Scouser? At least Ester McVey isn't such a snob, she disguises her accent to conceal her roots.
