Daily Camera.com: : Boulder weighing changes to off-leash dog program - Boulder Daily Camera

It's a shame to see that those who are unwilling to consent to unwanted contact with another human or pet are met with bullying, and demeaning comments. Are we not all allowed our personal space, for our own reasons? I love dogs, however, like many people, I have moderate allergies to them. An approaching dog makes me a bit apprehensive, I can't help it. Sometime it's quite uncomfortable, and I'm not sure the dog understands that I'm allergic rather than "uptight" or "unhappy". It's always a pleasure to encounter masters that respect the space of other trail users. It's not nice to encounter those that do not.

Agreed. Unwanted contact with dogs is not a trivial matter for those with dog allergies. For example, dog saliva can and will cause itchy hives when contact is made with skin. I don't think anyone relishes a condition such as this. I always appreciate masters that respect the fact that not everyone is able to interact with their pet.

"We're all taking a risk," she said. "We're betting on you." - Boulder District Judge D.D. Mallard A contemptible thing to say, Judge D.D. Mallard, to an individual that has absolutely demonstrated that he has the raw capability to launch a savage physical attack on another human being. Your comment expresses a truly pitiful regard for the safety and general wellbeing of this community. Your words are loud and clear: our daughters, sisters and mothers are worth risking for this "bet" you're willing to make. Unsurprising given the thoughts you shared with rapist Michael Sipili; "You made a terrible mistake, but you've got a lot of strengths," Pro-criminal Judge Mallard represents a disgusting lack of resolve and integrity.

The large groups of transients alone are a very good reason for the police to have a visibly established presence.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder mental health center plan worries Foothill parents - Boulder Daily Camera

"It IS the case that these people are no more likely to commit a crime than the general population" "Is there ANY evidence to suggest that these patients would be more likely than anyone else to commit a crime?" Boulder Mental Health Partners are explicit about the types of services they provide, and to whom: "Intensive outpatient treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness. (e.g.) PACE (Partnerships for Active Community Engagement): Collaborative outpatient program with Boulder County Public Health, Boulder County Probation Department, Community Justice Services, and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department, for persons with mental illness, substance abuse, and criminal behavior." Parents should not be ashamed of their efforts to protect their children from the risks, (however they are perceived), that persons with severe mental illness, present to a community given a "regular" destination to frequent. Boulder Mental Health Partners provide commendable services. However, they do not belong near a school. The people who need Boulder Mental Health Partners are there for a reason. An environment with children isn't appropriate. Individuals who need Boulder Mental Health Partners are compromised in their abilities to take care of their own health and safety, and in their abilities to make safe choices for themselves. It only takes one individual who is having a bad day to make an unsafe choice about a child - or near a child. One can't protect their children from all people and behaviors, but they can try their best to mitigate the risk. Boulder Mental Health patients are a risk. This center is a risk.
