Ask why superintendent Mike Riley suddenly quit last winter about 2 weeks before Bellevue&#039;s budget problems were announced. Bellevue could save $1.3 million by contracting with WSIPC. Bellevue could have also levied for more money last spring for teacher salaries, instead of asking the community to cough up more money to rebuild schools. Pretty much all of Bellevue&#039;s schools are being rebuilt from the ground up. Bellevue still has the power to levy more money from the community but nobody likes that option.
