And finally I would like to end my comments with...although I believe voting really doesn't make a difference, I still vote that way I can try to be a part of our Democratic society and if my vote is robbed from me then there isn't much I can do about it. at least I tried. Yes, I voted for Obama and, yes, I am embarrassed!!! But I am also embarrassed by some of the other presidents I have voted for. The question always is for me, which is the lesser of the two evils?

And in case you have never seen it. HBO released a documentary "Hacking Democracy" after Bush won and it showed how the electronic ballots could be rigged and ballots werent counted. (Not that I think we would have been any better off) Politicians are corrupt and they work for the lobbyists and corporate america (if there is a difference between the two). Wake up America, we have no government looking out for us, they are looking to take our freedoms and get rich doing it!!!! You should watch this video. It will wake you up to the reality that democracy is dead and there isnt a thing we can do about it. We think that by voting we are changing our country but after you watch it you will see the truth. Just google hacking democracy.

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion. George Washington, Farewell Address, Sept. 17, 1796 I think George Washington knew what was coming for the American people a long time ago, but no one wanted to listen to him.

Ignorance is bliss!!!! Both sides keep throwing insults at each other, all the while completely ignoring the fact that the majority of all our elected officials are "politicians" in cahoots together to get the rest of us. Neither Republican or Democrat care about any of us. This boat called America has been sinking for a long time now and the ones with the life jackets are the politicians. It isn't just Obama's fault...it is every stinking politician we have had for quite some time now. And the best thing about a politician is they know how to divide us the American citizens against each other so we don't focus our attention on them. "It's about racism, no it's about socialism." Remember the phrase "divide and conquer." Frankly, I believe that Obama was the fall guy for a mess we have been in for some time now. What a better way to elect a black president who is going to have to deal with the fallout of getting us out a war, inherit the beginning bailout of Wall Street that Bush started before he left, and a growing recession. He is in a no win situation in a country that is color blind and doesn't want to discuss racism. we also built this country on religious freedom and accepting other races and cultures but we don't practice what we preach.

KY3 : Buffalo MO HS football coach resigns after 15 players refuse to play for him | KY3 News, Weather, Sp

It amazes me that everyone is so quick to dismiss these teens. Granted, teens can often act like spoiled brats, maybe there really is something to this story. I applaud them for being loyal to a fellow player who may have been discriminated against in some way. I checked out the link from stupendous and it seems these students had a valid reason for quitting. Good for them for standing up for each other and the rules that the adults should have been adhering to. We as adults should be concerned when you have 15 players quitting because of a teacher/coach. I had a coach in high school that always bullied and belittled the weaker kids and at least these players were being loyal to each other and trying to get their voices heard. we should always listen to our children before jumping to conclusions such as they are probably spoiled. That is why a lot of kids don't tell when they are being hurt.

Has everyone on here gone mad????? Does no one believe that there is an appropriate age to teach your child about drugs, sex, and profanity and that that should be up to the parent who brought the child into the world? Fine, throw your child to the wolves (AKA: school system) and let them decide what to teach your child.

What does whether I have read the bible or not have anything to do with the point I was making that all parents should have a right to decide what they allow their children to read or be exposed to? This is about allowing parents to choose what is appropriate for an age group of children and not allowing a school to make that choice. I simply stated in an earlier post that if there was a rating system applied to books then no book would have to be banned because the child would have to be the appropriiate age to check out the book.

It absolutely scares and baffles my mind at the things we expose children to these days. While I know it is a lot of different factors that have caused the issues we are having with children these days, I just cant believe people are so willing to expose children of any age to drugs, sex, and profanity. Where did morality go? Why cant children just be children and sheltered from adult issues? No wonder we have 8 year olds getting pregnant, teens beating up others and posting the videos on utube, kids killing kids in the public school!

What parent would walk out to their car, realize their baby was in a hot car for hours, and not take them to the doctor to be checked? What parent wouldnt feel like the worst piece of pooh for forgetting their child that they would take them to daycare and not leave work to be with their child? That is why people are judgmental. His actions didnt show the good in him!

If it was truly an accident, I am sorry for this family and the life they will face not seeing their baby grow up. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Also, this could have gotten the daycare into trouble and they could have had to prove the child was not injured there.

An early news report stated the child had died after be taken to the hospital when daycare noticed something was wrong with the child. The report I saw said he dropped off the child and acted fine. If it is true that she was dead when he took her into the daycare, that makes it all the more egregious that her dad did not notice or help her. His actions do not show concern for his child, more like trying to cover his butt. I have 3 children, work full time, and go to school full time and never once have I forgotten my child and there are millions of parents that dont. My concern is that there are parents out there that dont want their kids and want a way to get rid of them. In the news you hear of this happening more and more. everyone feels sorry for the parents and most of the time they face no consequences. I remember years ago small children who died in their parents care with no signs of injury were often ruled SIDS and now it is starting to come out that it wasnt SIDS but parents killing their children. I am just saying these cases need to be fully investigated to ensure it was an accident.

I think if he felt bad about leaving his child in the car for hours in the hot sun he would have dialed 9-1-1 immediately instead of taking her to the daycare. The daycare called 9-1-1 immediately so the child must have been acting funny or it was apparent something was wrong. I also agree with guyinswmo, I just dont get how people forget their child in the car and I also dont get how you could be so nonchaliant enough about it to then take your child to daycare after realizing your child has been in a locked car on a hot day. How do you not notice your child in their carseat? truly sad and peventable death of a precious baby.

I agree that there should be more guidelines to ensure that childen are learning in their homeschool environment. I also think that it is those people that you referred to that make the majority of homeschooling parents look bad. I think it is funny that many parents ridicule our public school system, but would rather send their child to a school they disagree with then spend time with their own child. My oldest, now 18 and going off to college went to public education and I just cant send my other children knowing the things I know about what goes on in the school system that parents often never know about. One last thought, I feel that any parent has to decide what is best for their family. If they choose public education and that works for them that is great. What I find so absurd is that the majority of people (not meaning you) ridicule others for choosing another option for their family. Why can people not be supportive of parents wanting to do what they think is best for their child? The school system still recieves my tax dollars regardless.

I think that America has got to be more open minded about home schooling. There are many studies that have compared homeschooled children and public schooled children based on academic level and socialization and they have found that often times homeschooled children far exceed public schooled children hands down, but heaven forbid the media would publicize this information. Yes there are people who take a variety of approaches to educating their child at home and it is up to the parent. I was scared when first considering homeschooling, even with a degree in education, because of all the bad hype homeschooling has gotten, but after meticulously researching/reading books about doing it I know now more than ever that I can give my child a much better learning environment with all my love than they could ever get at a public school.

I cant say I will make my decision about homeschooling my children based on your experience alone. There is a bigger world out there. I have worked in education and I can say I would rather have my children act like "homeschooled" children than children from public school any day. At least that is my experience.

So, you feel rating movies and video games is inappropriate as well then? It is the same thing. Parents have a right to know what their children are being exposed to. Maybe in your view then we should just start letting playboy be in the library to check out as well? Some would say its educational. If this book contains strong language, sexual content, and drug use how is it so absurd to expect a rating system so that people considering reading it know what to expect? No different than movies/games. I think it is better than banning books from people who want to read them and this way there would be no need for a ban because it would have to be the parents decision to allow their child to read it, just like if a child wants a M rated game the parents have to buy it and show id. I agree that gvt is starting to take away civil liberties afforded us and there is concern not to step toward Nazi behavior but I dont see how a rating system equates to Nazism when people of the appropriate age can have access to it or there parents can decide for them. It isnt book burning or hindering freedom of speech. It is enabling a consumer to know what to expect and protect minors.

This is one of the many reasons why I am choosing to homeschool my children. I also believe books should come with a rating system just like video games and movies, that way parents can be educated about what is in books before allowing their child to read it. It would also help schools and librarians know what age is appropriate for checking out such material. Ultimately, parents should have a right to decide what their child is exposed to. If parents want their child to read this book then take them to a different library and let them check it out or have a list of children whose parents do not want them to check the book out.
