Daily Camera.com: : Tony Gannaway: Don\'t penalize all for breaking dog rules - Boulder Daily Camera

We already have the rules to make that happen. How about if the city tries to objectively and regularly enforce the rules already on the books before making penalties more onerous?

Maybe it's time to take a page from the Patrick Murphy play book and follow PLAN-Boulder member dog owners around with a video camera. Make sure their dogs are always on leash when they're supposed to be. Make sure they pick up their dogs' poops, etc. etc. OSMP and the city cannot objectively apply their current rules. Adding new rules won't change the situation especially when there are no rangers to enforce them.

Xcel needs to fire its PR firm. And it would be nice if the DC practiced this "gothca" journalism when RUIN-Boulder is up to similar shenanigans.

I learn and learn and learn and I'm a damn slow learning neanderthal, and even though I took typing with Dorkus Floyd in the seventh grade, I still type horribly. How has your weekend been? Hope you got outside for a few good rides and whatever else helps you feel good.

Sarah Huntly, city spokesperson, claimed: the city was prepared for the storm but snowplows were stuck in the same traffic. Really? Traffic started bottling up at around 4-4:30 p.m. Prepartion it seems would have meant that plows and work trucks were out on the streets earlier - say at 3 p.m., making sure de-icer and gravel were spread, and perhaps police and emergency personnel deployed at critical intersections to help keep traffic flowing, say ensuring selfish drivers didn't block those intersections? CU facilities had no problem clearing sidewalks and keeping the main streets through campus clear. They were out de-icing much earlier so their workers weren't caught in traffic (except on city streets).

Mike are you really suggesting that the Boulder City Council should inject itself in national issues such as immigration. "Usability of the city's public thoroughfares" is an issue. We have spent a ridiculous amount of time and money on sidewalks with no real plan for enforcment or no enforcement of prior laws, wasted time and money on flashing yellow lights only to take them out and replace them, and have you driven on our roads after a snowstorm? The city barely gets around to plowing, misses many streets, and the roads themselves are in horrible condition.

True enough but to a very small segment of the community. Like it or not, far more people are commuting around town in cars on streets than on their feet or bikes on bike paths. It seems the city is spending far more time and money on ensuring bike paths are clear.

Drive by 525 College Ave and let me know if you think the mayor should be ticketed for not shoveling her walk, and while you're at it, ask yourself why this little stretch of College Ave gets plowed by the city, but the stretch in front of the elementary school is nothing but ice?

Why were the adjacent houses in the floodplain that have basement flooding issues built? Let's raze those and turn them back into open space and that will mitigate traffic a bit as well.
