Atomic Toasters : User Input: It's Not A Theory, Man, It's Real!

One of my favorites is that Coca-Cola came out with New Coke/Coke 2 only to boost sales of original Coke when they brought it back. And it gave them enough time to switch from using sugar to high fructose corn syrup with original coke.

Atomic Toasters : Startup: BOOZE!

Fun math time! Canada population is &quot;aboot&quot; 34 million. Using some census data I pulled from wikipedia; The legal drinking age is 18 or 19 and 80% of the population is over 20. That does not account for under age drinking but whatever. 3% of the population are of a religion that does not drink so I will ignore that and use is as my buffer. So that leaves us with 27.2 million people consuming 350 million Caesars a year. That is 12.8 Caesars a year on average. So many clams... They filter garbage and are delicious. I have no real point, just math.

My santoku. I can easily cook and cut with other knifes. But this one feels like it is part of my hand. &lt;img src=&quot;http://japanesechefsknife.com/images/Img394.jpg&quot; width=&quot;500&quot;&gt; It was not cheap but as knives go, it was not crazy expensive.</img>

Atomic Toasters : Startup: Refused Advancement

I don&#039;t use a fountain pen but do appreciate proper hand writing. Computers have ruined peoples penmanship just out of lack of practice. But I am all for things old fashion. I shave with an safety razor &amp; badger hair brush. It changed shaving from a chore to a enjoyable activity.

Atomic Toasters : User Input: Are Board Games Still Relevant?

I am a big fan of board games. There is a weekly Risk &amp; drinking game I attend occasionally. More frequently around the house we play Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Acquire, others I cannot recall. I have to say I hate Monopoly though. It is a game based on slow painful attrition. Not fun.

Atomic Toasters : Startup: Chilling Out

I was shopping for refrigerators over the holiday and one store had a small display that had the KWh of refrigerators from different decades. If I remember right, refrigerators from the 70&#039;s had an estimate of 2000 KWh per year and modern refrigerators were down to 500 KWh or less. I will admit older refrigerators have a lot more style and 100% cooler latch handles; but the power they use is gluttonous.

Atomic Toasters : User Input: A Geek Holy War

I think both universes are great but I would say Star Trek has won the war. I prefer Star Wars myself but admit most every modern attempt to enhance/expand/renew the SW universe has failed; a few exceptions in some games and the original Clone Wars cartoon. George Lucas is an odd duck to say the least. Star Trek on the other hand, has had much better efforts. TNG, DS9, the movie reboot, etc.

Atomic Toasters : User Input - The Test of Time Part I: Tron

I can never figure this type of questions. I loved Tron as a child but as a child my tastes were much simpler. There were shiny special effects, vague action and a smart wise cracking main character. It was freaking awesome and Pixie sticks were the best candy ever. But the older me is much more appreciative of story/plot and character development and savory treats. I re-watched Tron a couple of weeks ago and definitely enjoyed the nostalgia but could not say it was a good movie. But I would say it was never a good movie; fun, silly and great for children but that is about all.

Atomic Toasters : All We Are is Dust in the Wind(tunnel)

Fun times post! Ok, Mr Engineerd, what would be the best way to go about building one&#039;s own home wind tunnel to test things on? How this would be useful is dubious but fun it would be. As for scale, my first thought would be standard model car size scale but really probably the scale of what ever is easiest to build.

Atomic Toasters : User Input: Ludicrous Speed

My favorite space travel would have to be in Joe Halderman&#039;s fantastic Forever War series. For those that have not read them (you should) they travel through wormhole &quot;collapsars&quot; that allow for the space ship to travel in mere seconds but the rest of the universe to remain at &quot;normal&quot; time. I.E. in the space ship time, the trip only last seconds but for everything else outside of the space ship, it will last years. Having to deal with the time dilation of space travel is more interesting to me than just getting there fast.

Atomic Toasters : Startup: Toasters on Toasters

I currently have a broken example of this master piece of a toaster: the Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster &lt;img src=&quot;http://www.automaticbeyondbelief.org/images/t20bw.jpg&quot; width=&quot;500&quot;&gt; It is the most polite toaster I have ever used. There is not pressing of levers or anything. You just put the bread in the slot, the toaster automatically lowers the bread on it&#039;s own and slowly raises them when the bread is correctly toasted. It also does not use a timer, it measures the temperature of the toast to know when it is done. And is was first made in the 40&#039;s. You do not get the satisfying twang of a conventional toaster but I still love it to death. I just need to figure out how to fix it...</img>
