Ultimate MMA Video Blog : UFC 97 Post-Fight Presser

Fair enough, but I would disagree with that. Some fighters don't know their ass from there elbow. While his comments definitely carry some weight due to who he is, he is an employee of the UFC, best mates with Dana and his views may not be completely unbiased. He is towing the party line here. Not like he could come out and slate Anderson, not only would that look terrible but also rather said given he just had his head bashed in. If someone is to make valid points on the action with clear evidence to back up there argument then I would listen to them be fan, journalist or fighter.

Coming from you that means a lot. If you have any relevant points to debate or want to discuss something then get back to me. It is very easy to do and is what the majority of people here are doing. If you want to throw around childish insults, please at least try and make them original.

You are an idiot. Sylvia was ranked top 5 when he met Fedor and the only reason he left the UFC was he asked to be released from his contract. He could still cut it there. Arlovski was ranked number two by pretty much everyone, some had him at 3. Since leaving the UFC he looked impressive and was ranked so high for a reason. Before the Fedor fight people seriously considered him a big threat. Not only did he beat these two, but did so inside the first round. Try watching outside the UFC and you may learn a thing or two.

Sorry if it wasn't clear, this reply is put in entirely the wrong place. Not sure why they have done that (this should be replying to someone completely different). As for Chuck knowing it all that is just simply not true. Just because someone participates in a sport doesn't mean they automatically know more than anyone who doesn't. If that were the case, why does anyone listen to anything sport journalists have to say?

That is a crock of shit. Most people who watch MMA are fans of the sport and it's technicalities. They want excitement and to have a high level of skill on show. If he was fighting for free then he can do what he wants. But he is on a lot of money payed to him by the UFC. The fans make the sport and without them it wouldn't exist. He is the champion that represents the UFC and the fans wanted to see him at least attempt to finish the fight. He did not do that when he could have and decided to dance around in parts of the round to humiliate Leites rather than try and end the fight.

Why the big deal? The fans pay to watch the fight. With no fans there is no money. No money = No fight. The fans can have whatever opinion they like and say what they like as they are the paying fan and without them the sport would not exist. What they want is someone to at least try and finish the fight. Never going for the finish doesn't excite and makes for some boring viewing. This is why the fans are annoyed, he is fighting for them and would rather dance around then try and finish. Don't show us you are better than him by standing with your hands on your hips dancing, try and finish him with your excellent arsenal of skills.

Ultimate MMA Video Blog : Anderson Silva vs Thales Leites Video- UFC 97

Actually I am a Silva fan as well as a Fedor fan and many other fighters. I personally think the whole p4p argument is completely pointless. Did you enjoy the fight at all? Dissapointed in the action? If so why lay all the blame at Leites door? Does he have to take some of the blame, sure. But Anderson did not engage with a guy who has zero knockouts on his record. Just so you know, Leites flopped to the ground when Anderson was near him and when he wasn't. He never seriously tried to clinch with Thales. Also, I'm tired of people saying things like "your fans that wanna see a blood bath", I love the technical aspect of MMA as much as the next guy. But pretending that people who were upset with last nights match just wanna see barbaric people bang heads is just ignorant. You can pretend Anderson was being technical all you want, just because people don't wanna watch nothing happen for 25 minutes doesn't mean they just want blood. I know you think it makes you seem like a bigger MMA fan to say this, but it doesn't.

What happened when Anderson was in his guard exactly? He produced a nice bit of ground and pound for about 30 seconds and then decided to stand back up again. The strategy to win the fight was to not engage and do the bare minimum to win. He picked up the win, great. But majority of fans know he could have done better and are rightly dissapointed with 25 minutes of pretty much no action.

Anderson is a BJJ black belt, had Leites tired, and the most damage he did was for the 30 seconds of ground work. He could have finished Leites at any time after the second round, Thales wanted out. When Thales was standing there in front of him, instead of dancing around he could have done what gave him p4p status before. Where was the brutality we saw against Franklin twice or Irvin, Leben, Nate? What has happened to his Thai Clinch? Anderson was scared of Thales on the ground, and Thales was scared of Anderson on the feet. Blame both men for the stalemate.

"How dare people boo Silva" "I don't understand why people are booing Silva" "The only one that should be criticized is Leites... He get's a shot against the champ and all he does is avoid and lay down on the ground....." All of these are statements from people on here. First off, the booing of Silva. Fans have paid and traveled to watch Anderson Silva. He is the main event and is paid by the UFC to fight. He did not so understandably many fans felt somewhat aggrieved. Secondly the laying the blame all on Thales. Did he try and take Anderson down? Yes. Did it work? Yes. he tried it again and Anderson had his number, he was then out of ideas. Pretty shit I know. But ss he going to strike with the best striker in the world or start throwing countless shots against someone who is at his best counterpunching? Where is the sense in that. Anderson could have taken him out anytime he pleased and that is what has got most people irked today. He wanted no part of it and people don't see that as a champions behaviour.
