Obama said this was going to happen during his campaign. This will have all kinds of negative effects. First gas prices will skyrocket. Then you will see pickup trucks get fazed out, do you really think they will be able to get the gas mileage on pickup trucks up to 35 miles a gallon by 2016. Gas mileage for pickup trucks has only gone up about 10 mile per gallon in the last 20 years, now it's got to raise 15 (for Gm Trucks) to 20 (for Ford and Dodge) miles per gallon in 6 plus years. This is absolutely ridiculous. And to top it off, NOBODY WANTS HYBRIDS CAR AND ELECTRIC CARS, they want SUVs and Trucks, geez some people are so stupid (ie the current president of the US). They are not going to disappear just cause they are filing for bankruptcy. This gives them the option to lower alot of their costs and re-negotiate their labor contracts. In the long run this will make GM more of a power in the automobile industry when they are able to get their labor costs down and are able to sell their vehicles cheaper.
