I wasn't able to rewatch the episode so I won't do a list for fear of mixing it up with another ep and spoiling something by accident. But most of what I remember about this episode is: HELL NO to the clowns (I am one hundred percent on Mark's side with this one. Clowns suck) and HELL YES to Ellen, Jo, and Ash aka, three of my favorite characters. Seriously, I'd watch a spin-off show with just them in it, I love them that much.

Yet another episode that blindsided me with feels.
Random commentary/and Pro/Cons:
Dean, you are in no position to call someone a smartass. That's like the pot calling the kettle black.
Pro: Wee little Winchesters. You just want to hug them.
Pro: The old lady in the hospital was kind of awesome. But I have a fondness for snarky old ladies. They remind me of my own grandmother.
Con: John Winchester's shitty parenting skills rear their ugly head again.
Pro: Michael = adorable. I can't handle all the cute kids in this episode. Bad monster for wanting to suck out their souls or whatever.
So...am I the only one who kept calling the monster a Dementor even after we found out what it was? Possibly.
Pro AND Con: So. Many. Feels.
Rewatching this season has kind of given me a fanfic idea that's about all these people that Sam and Dean leave behind and how they deal with knowing that the supernatural is real.

Ah Shadow, or as I call it, that episode that completely blindsided me with emotion at the end.
Pro: The land lady is wonderfully sassy and clearly done with all this bureau nonsense.
Con: Dean's machoness rears its ugly head again. Ugh, writers, quit it.
Pro: Sam using his thinking cap and not trusting the weirdness of Meg showing up randomly. Most shows would have had him not question it at all. Nice twist on the expected there.
Con: No, seriously, Dean's macho routine is getting stale fast.
Pro: The elevator. C'mon, that whole thing was gold.
Pro: Meg. Yay for awesome lady villains.
Pro: John Winchester shows up!
Con: He leaves before we get answers. Now you all are just toying with us.

Don't have much to say about this one. It's a bit of a mess. But as someone who has actually LIVED in Cape Girardeau (the place this was set in), I was a bit irked by them making the town out to be this tiny thing. Cape is not that small. It has a big state college with thousands of students. It has its own mall. It's got a big shopping area. There's lots of people there. It may not be St. Louis, but cripes sake, closing the main road like these guys threatened wouldn't make it hard for people to get into Cape. It would be inconvenient, yes. But there are like five different ways into Cape Girardeau. So I can never concentrate on this ep because my bs meter keeps going off as it always does whenever Hollywood sets things in the places I have lived.

This is one of the better filler episodes of season 1. At least in my opinion.
Con: Teenagers today must not have much to do if they seriously think going into a creepy abandoned building is something that is fun. I'm with the cop guy in the beginning: why?
Pro: Sam and Dean have finally acquired a laptop!
Pro: Method acting. Sure Sam. Sure.
Con: Oh Gavin, you are bad boyfriend material. I can tell right away. Kat, dump him. He thinks going into creepy buildings counts as a date!
Pro: Dean finally says what every horror movie fan has wanted to say to a horror movie character.
Pro: Kat. She is way too good for Gavin.
Pro: Nice use of the story to talk about the family issues.
Con: YOU LEFT IT THERE? You jerks.

This is one of my favorite Supernatural eps. I will admit the first time I watched through Supernatural, I was very very close to quitting at this point so this ep came at the right time.
Pro: Invested right away. Yay for finally developing some of the plot!
Pro: Missouri. Mostly because she is played by Loretta Devine. Loretta Devine is one of those actresses who just makes me grin because...don't know why, really. She just does. I don't question it.
Con: Missouri is a bit of a stereotype. Though at least she does it with sass. Her handling of Dean is the best thing ever.
Pro: Character stuff for Dean. For once, he's not the macho dude.
Con: Probably won't last.
Pro: No seriously, Missouri is the BEST. She should have her own show.
Pro: Dean's priceless face at "we'll pay for this" and "we'll clean it up".
Con: My ugly sobbing at the appearance of Mary Winchester.
Pro: This entire episode. Almost makes up for Bugs. Almost.
Con: The conflicting feelings John Winchester causes me. On one hand, dude ANSWER YOUR PHONE. Speak too your children. On the other hand...he seems to have legit reasons? I think? I hope. Also he's still wearing his wedding ring after over twenty years. Cue feels.

I'll be frank, I HATED this episode. Hated it when I first saw it, still hate it now, after trying to watch with an open mind. It would be pointless for me to do a pro con list for it because all of it would be cons except for the interesting look into the different ways Dean and Sam view their father. As I've mentioned before, I'm an only child so dynamics between siblings/families with more then one kid have always kind of fascinated me. But that is one decent thing in a whole episode that is full of nope.

I was so distracted the first time watching this because it was set in St. Louis and three guesses where I'm from? Do you know how rare it is having something set out here? The closest we've gotten is Up in the Air which had some scenes from Lambert Airport in it.
Pro: Cold opening.
Con: Ugh. ENOUGH, Dean. When you are not male posturing you are a interesting, awesome character. When you are male posturing, I want to punch you.
Pro: Creepy as hell. I actually had seen this one before I started watching X-Files for the first time and the minute I saw that one ep, I realized where the writers got their inspiration. Actually, while watching X-Files, a lot of TV episodes of old suddenly made a lot more sense. X-Files has influenced a lot of TV guys. But you all probably knew that all ready.
Con: Once again, blah female character who does nothing. Come on, writers. I know you can do better then this.

Did anyone do that Bloody Mary thing when they were kids? Me and my friends did it in camp. Nothing happened beyond us having fun with the lights. Big disappointment all around. We got flashlights and everything too. We were hardcore about it. I don't even know if kids nowadays still do it or if they're too cool nowadays to be scared by a ghost story.
Pro: Mixing up the old school childhood legends. Me like.
Con: Now terrified of mirrors. Thanks again, writers.
Pro: Mary looks an awful lot like that thing from The Ring. Which I'm pretty sure was deliberate.
Con: All those broken mirrors. Damn, that's a lot of bad luck. Also, poor store owner for having to clean that up in the morning.

Oh look, it's the episode that made me even MORE nervous about planes. Yay.
Con: People, that comment about plane crashes not being a large cause of death IS NOT HELPFUL to nervous fliers. I don't know why you guys think it helps. It DOESN'T. Stop it.
Pro: Brother bantering. I love the brother bantering.
Pro: Dean being so proud of his homeade device and his pout face when Sam isn't at all impressed.
Pro: The Homeland Security joke. It totally dates the episode but I love it.
Pro: That we are using the word God to find out if someone's possessed or not. It shouldn't be that funny, but it is.
Con: Never getting on planes. EVER. This and J. J. Abrams have ruined planes for me.
Con: John having time to update his answering machine, but not give his sons a ring to let them know he's not dead. Not cool John. Not cool.
