I second captainbella on this one. The problem is that she refused to sign the ticket. (Tickets you get in the mail, like for red light cameras, fall under a different rules of law, so that argument doesn't apply) The signature on the ticket is only your acknowledgment that you received the ticket, not that you think it is justified. You're more than welcome to argue against it in court even if you sign it. What other options do the cops have without losing all credibility? Should they just wait there until she says she's sorry and agrees to sign? That might work with your 5 year old, but there's a higher expectation with adults to act like, well, grown ups. If they physically tried to remove her from the vehicle, they'd just be accused of policy brutality. Police are allowed to use tasers on people who don't comply, plain and simple. Refusing to give any authority to the police isn't justified by the poor choices of a few bad apples.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Referendum 71 decision expected by Tuesday | KOMO News- Seattle, Washington| Local

"R-71 would ask voters to overturn the 'everything but marriage' domestic partnership law passed by the Legislature." R-71, if passed, would OVERTURN (or at least postpone) the 'everything but marriage' law passed by the legislature. That law is not yet in effect. It would also, therefore, UPHOLD the current law.

If you saw it on the news, it must be true... -Hilmer does not have dementia. Either the news organizations weren't listening or they wanted to make a more interesting story. He gets confused a little when he gets anxious, but that's about it. He only drives short distances and has been doing so for many years. He uses a walker, but is not incapacitated. If you would like to help, please pray for him and his family. Comments like "I sure hope they find him, but..." don't help anyone.
