We still prosecute small-scale crimes, like auto theft, murder, and drug dealing, but we don't prosecute larger-scale crimes, like genocide, torture, etc. Same with the banking industry. We prosecute the smaller offenders like Madoff, but we've giving the keys to Fort Knox to the "godfathers" of the massive white-collar crime ring we call a financial system. This mob is so big it includes most of our government too. Our very foundation as a society has become How do we restore justice and integrity to these major building blocks of survival as a society?
