THIS WEEK. I was hit by a car on Saturday while biking with my boyfriend. Like, the jerk full on smashed into me and didn't even slow down. My leg is broken, and new cuts and bruises are still appearing all the time. I was in the hospital til Tuesday, and now I'm wearing a boot for the next six weeks, at least. I usually bike everywhere, so this is going to be a HUGE life adjustment for me.

Anyone have any pop culture consumption recovery tips? TV shows, favorite books? I suddenly have so much time on my hands.

This: "There were also worries about the harm to her precious fertility that long miles in the saddle might cause and the immodest clothing such a pastime required." This was my thesis topic.

Um, a progressive oyster happy hour?! That sounds more than amazing. Relatively cheap = dinner entrees in the $10s and lower $20s. I've heard a rumor about a happy hour tracking app too?

Otter feeding times! I think we talked about the aquarium, but I'm not sure.

We're staying at an airbnb in Capitol Hill, so quirky fun recommendations for there-ish are very much appreciated! And I want to spend as much time as possible in Fremont and Ballard too.

Seattle! I'm going there for the national museum association conference in two weeks, then staying and exploring for four more days. Does anyone have fun, hip, quirky Seattle recommendations for me? I'm especially looking for delicious and relatively cheap food, good places to bike, and the things that make Seattle what it is.

Currently email-debating the Jacobin article with a friend! Thank you for adding fuel to my fire. Although my reading of the Jacobin article was more of a call to recognize the privilege that DWYLers have rather than callousness towards those don't. And also - why shouldn't we value ourselves highly?! As roumbaba said above, why should we have to apologize for our seeking value from our (one and only, short and microscopic) life?

I should add though that I do work in my chosen, creative field and am not currently expected to work more than 40 hours a week while all my friends in similar positions do. So. My thoughts on this could easily change with a different job.

(ps THE LAST UNICORN. And a Mad Men quote! Be still, my heart.)

It is SO worth it to shop around for the right therapist. It may take 1,000 phone calls, but each one is worth it. I mean, this is someone who you're trusting with your deepest and most precious secrets. You'll be more honest and get more out of your sessions if you trust them.

My therapist, as soon as I told her I could only afford to see her twice a month with my current copay, offered to reduce the copay so I could see her more often. Is that an option? Your insurance is still covering the bulk of the payment, right?

All of the things RoseCamelia said too.
