I believe it is because one department in Texas chooses all the books for the whole state. In other states, each individual school board can choose from a selected list of books.

As for buyer beware. in the US the religious are off limits. Bernie Madoff can easily go to prison for bilking people out of money, but Harold Camping is protected by the separation of church and state. So society is saying, it's OK to be fooled by this guy.

There is a leader/follower instinct in the human population that is a part of social animals. Some people quietly encourage/abuse this to elevate the status of individuals to extremes, eg. rock stars, athletes, CEOs. The teaching of instincts in humans is avoided.

Americans may be getting less religious, but those that vote are more religious because too many eligible voters don't bother.

Well, anti-theist is a different word, so it won't fit on the chart. Also anti-religion would be the correct term for someone that hates controlling, suppressive religions. That person could also be a theist.

But many people don't know about these distinctions and how they are different. The chart shows the difference in the meaning of the words.

Yes, I would change my position from agnostic atheist to gnostic theist with evidence. Still would wonder why the delay in showing up though.

As to the many words, freethinker, humanist, bright, the word atheist has many incorrect meanings added to it that some want to avoid. Examples are: deny god, hate religion, want to eliminate religion. Not true. I just want to live a normal life and not have religion forced onto me or let me be open about my atheism and not be discriminated against.

The federal govt. is still handing out subsidies based on distance from Wisconsin. Lowest subsidy level in WI and MN, higher in mid US. Highest in Northeast, Florida, Texas and CA.
