Between what I have above and other actions since this book was written, I seriously wonder if anyone in D.C. has read the constitution because many have clearly violated constitutional law. And what gets me even more his they are still in office. TEA parties are great, and what we are doing I feel is good. But protesting and voicing opinions can only do so much. Since Obama did not give us the change we wanted ("we" meaning the MAJORITY) we need to find a way to fight the law with the law.

(sorry this is in four posts, it wouldn't let me submit it as one)

The Pelosi case discussion:
*She engineered an official visit to the Middle East and met with Bashar Asad, the president of Syria
*The Bush administration refused any contact with Syria because there are classified as a terrorist nation
*Article II of the Constitution grants senators power to ratify treaties
*Pelosi is not a senator and was not authorized to ratify a treaty by Bush
*Pelosi violated a strategic policy that been set by Bush
*Pelosi said the PM of Israel was prepared to enter peace talks, this was false
*Many legal experts labeled her actions as a clear violation of the "separation of powers" granted by the Constitution

"The structure of the Constitution as described here does not set up a democracy. Instead it establishes a republic. The difference between a democracy and a republic is that in a democracy, the people have direct control over the government, whereas in a republic, the people elect delegates to represent them."

"...many people express disillusionment with democracy, as evident by perennially low voter turnout. Still, most people seem to prefer the democratic process, even if they are disillusioned by how democracy works in the "real" world."

In reference to why we act like a democracy:
"...in a democracy, there is always the opportunity to change leaders at election time, even if the opportunity is not often realized." "...the people's rights are recognized as an integral part of the government formula, even if the exercise of those rights is often imperfectly realized."

From Business Law with UCC Applications 12th Edition. G. Brown, P. Sukys.

Just a few points from Chapter 1 and 2

Utilitarianism (Ethical theory) Steps:
a. Action stated should be unemotional and in general terms
b. All people affects will be identified
c. All consequences for people listed in “b” must be considered
d. All alternate actions of “a” must be considered
e. Once step “d” is complete, a conclusion must be reached of the best solution for the greater good of the greatest number of people listed in “b”

A rule in a complex adaptive system (referring to law): "...there is no central controlling actor. instead, control of the system is dispersed among various actors, any one of which can be replaced by another, equally effective actor. Even those actors designated as "chief" or central actors have only nominal control over the entire complicated system."
