The Governor of NM can get his haircut anywhere he wants to. The gay barber is demonstrating to the governor what it is like to be refused service for political reasons. The governor is probably unaware, as are most of us, exactly how we feel when denied service. Rosa Parks and the Lunch Counter protesters of the civil rights era, had the nerve to break laws and convention, in order to demonstrate the injustice that they suffered on a daily basis. If the governor is going to support laws that cause gays to be discriminated against, then he should understand what that feels like.

Every scientific advancement of the the last 500 years, is based upon theory and models. Didn't our entire country collectively chear when we shocked and awed Afganstan and Iraq, killing, and creating chaos accross the region. Obama is pursuing the destruction of our "arch enemies" in a more surgical manner; is this saving lives? I, personally was opposed to retribution and revenge on a wide scale; I argued that it was a poor way to achieve the stated goal of bringing at al quaeda and its leaders to justice; I think there were much smarter ways of doing it, that were much less costly. So, we want the gov to protect us, but we don't want to see the ugliness of the consequences of providing that protection. What's a president to do?

I don't think absolute equality in all things is what should be pursued, but there is a minimum floor of human dignity that could be aimed for and achieved. Unnecessary human suffering along side of conspicuous consumption and luxury is quite nauseating to most people.

Every oil deposit that wehave depleted and burned, represents an ancient forest. How many forests have we burned up? Were they forests the size of the amazonian rainforest? That's a lot of carbon. If great shoals of blue green algae can affect the atmosphere, then why not the untold acreage of ancient forests of carbon that we have put into the atmoshpere.

Do you really think we can dump 14 billion tons of waste per year into the atmosphere and not have a sgnificant and ill effect? Blue green algae bubbled their waste into the atmosphere and changed the fundamental life forms that can survive on earth from sulpher burning to oxygen burning. How much waste can any organism pump into its eco system before that organism begins to feel the effects? I don't do astrology, but science shows that early environment strongly affects personality. therefore, if you live in temperate regions of the globe, and you are born in January your first impressions of the world are vastly different than if you are born in July. These differences surely can show up in large scale population analysis showing personality groupings according to month of birth data. I haven't done a complete study; just looking at rough outlines.

I agree with you. But my question is, has anyone followed up on Dorner's vast and detailed accusations against LAPD? Also, I'd like to see the police get as excited when a homeless person or a prostitute gets killed.
