Dear all,
have a time-sensitive question. what is an 'international unlock' on a Verizon US iPhone 4S? Is it restricted to non-US carriers or is effectively a factory unlock that enables use with other US Carriers, CDMA or GSM alike.
Alternatively, is a factory unlock service available outside Verizon or via GPP SIM unlock?
Thank you in advance for your feedback as always

All, good morning,
quick update... finally caved in and "re-tethered" my 3GS at 6.1.3 with Redsn0w 15b3, and recovered all my missing Exchange email access.

Wanted to share that restoring from a backup did not work at all, whether before or after the JB procedure, so I ultimately set up as a new phone. Running fairly smooth so far. I just have to keep reminding myself to re-point Redsn0w to 6.0 IPSW everytime I re-boot.

Thank you for your help a few days ago

i don't know that
Based on a little research on the topic, there is lots of noise out there about iOS 6 having introduced "significant mobile mail syncing bugs" that have only been fixed by iOS 6.1.3. Seemingly driven by Microsoft and Apple, whereby Microsoft is effectively demanding customers to lock-out non iOS 6.1.3 devices before they assist with corporate mail syncing issues. This is where I find myself today.

Thank you for the great clarification,
Per my original note ... I am a BYODer "regretfully being compelled to a 6.1.3 upgrade due to MS Exchange Activesync issues. " Otherwise I am locked out of work email and calendar.
Got it... I will not resort to pkgbackup and do re-install all my Cydia tweaks one at a time. Yes, I would be definitely restoring from current backup only after jailbreak.

wow that was fast... thank you... just 2 more follow-up questions... is this JB stable enough in understanding it remains the original JB designed for 6.0 now being applied for 6.1.3? Another question... am I safe to restore from a current backup to by-pass having to set-up as a new home. I would run iCleaner and PKGBackup as well in advance of doing my last iTunes sync and backup.

All, good morning,
quick question, please can you comment on the stability of the tethered JB of 6.1.3 with Redsn0w.
I am currently on a factory unlocked 3GS running 6.1., regretfully being compelled to a 6.1.3 upgrade due to MS Exchange Activesync issues.
Also, please confirm this sequence of steps >> After all my iTunes syncing and backups... I would need to first restore to 6.1.3 via iTunes, then execute the JB via Redsn0w pointing to a 6.0 IPSW... correct? Please confirm.
Thank you in advance for your wisdom.

thank you... do I need to worry about my 5.x.x and 6.x.x. blobs or is Redsn0w verify result reliable.
Not seeing a need to restore / upgrade / downgrade anytime soon, just in case.

Just checked the Blobs I had previously saved via TinyUmbrella using Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 'Verify' button:
- For all iOS5 and iOS6, i get a message saying 'APTicket is present and valid'
- for iOS4 blobs it says 'APTicket is missing'... thought I think this is irrelevant as APTickets became necessary only for iOS5 onward... correct?

Am I missing anything / is the verify option not reliable?

Thank you both a08 and dhlizard.
As it turns I did have a few unwanted culprits... most notably autolock turned off and 3G turned on. I think those 2 were truly driving most of the issue. After enabling and turning off respectively, plus removing push on all mail and calendar... I am sitting at 75% battery, or 25% consumed in 6 hours, which is very much average for my usual daily full charge, and what I had experienced on 6.1 ever since upgrading in early February.

Having said, this, I did run in my research into a few battery replacing options, most notably the kits and tutorials offered by ifixit. Do you have any feedback on pros/cons/bewares of self-replacing the battery by this route.
