KOMO - Seattle, WA : Seattle council likely to ban plastic bags Monday | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports

Many self-styled environmentalists aren't interested in rationally evaluating and seeing the unintended deleterious consequences and just plain stupidity of their beliefs - their primary interest is to maintain the delusion of themselves as being "caring" and "concerned" citizens. For them, environmentalism is a belief system tantamount to religion and in their religious fervor they feel justified in forcing their will on everyone and thwarting democratic process.

It's evident the supporters here of OWS only interest in truth and fact is to what degree they can be distorted to further their cause. Unfortunately for you, the truth of things usually comes out, and all your lies, distortions, misdirection and straw men don't stand up against what people can see with their own eyes and think with their own brains. But don't go away, I'm pretty sure you're one of the reasons OWS is losing what little support it had.

The comment above that was deleted is shown below in quotes (read it fast before it's removed again). I was told by KOMO staff that it "...is akin to abusing or putting down another commenter....". Heaven forbid that that should ever happen. Seems to me KOMO is catering to those who flag other's comments for the purpose of gagging them. "Is that the best you can do... a pathetically weak bait, while you entirely ignore the basis for those comments? You're gonna have to try harder than that. Go ahead, make a point about how valid the disruptive self-destructive actions of your OWS comrades are... I'm waiting." I don't know what others think, but I find it bazaar that KOMO would go along in deleting it. It's strong, but I don't see how it's abusive. I've seen a LOT worse.

Although you may believe bigger government is the answer, it's not. It was the actions of big government social engineering thru Fannie and Freddie that encouraged the banks and other lenders, the whole rotten structure, to give loans to those who would never be able to repay them.

The problem isn't as simple as more regulation. We've got plenty of that, but appropriate, efficient and effective regulation is another matter. Had the recent excesses of wall street occurred in an actual free market... well, they wouldn't have occurred in the first place because those who took irresponsible risks would not have dared do so if they had believed there would be actual consequences as opposed to a certain government bailout.

Apparently you believe the basis for the OWS protest is unregulated capitalism - is that correct? If so, perhaps you'd care to explain how blocking working people and small business from pursuing their right to carry out their personal and commercial business while at once alienating a large segment of the general public is conducive to accomplishing that goal. You wanna explain that to me? Or maybe I'm wrong in my premise and the real basis is simply a hatred for all things capitalistic. If so, I would say that history has conclusively shown that capitalism's worst day is far preferable to socialism/communism's best day. That is, if you think that merit and the means to improve your life have any importance. Willfully ignorant indeed... yeah, you'd appear to be an expert on that.

Actually, people do get it. They get that the vast majority of the protesters are self-indulgent twits acting with all the maturity of two year olds. You however apparently don't get that the majority of rational people tend to see the truth of things and that that is what's happening on this board.

They're not even bright enough to realize that by alienating working people and other good citizens they're playing into the hands of those whom they claim to despise. Their self-indulgent immature irrational behavior indicates their true mental vacuity, invalidates their 'cause', and proves what utter losers they really are. They're so stupid they can't even grasp their own self-interest. A truly childish and brainless lot obviously liberally indoctrinated and lacking the capacity for critical thought . Hopefully some will eventually gain the life experience necessary to understand how pathetically they behaved.

The scientific evidence for the global cooling event known as Little Ice Age is well established and overwhelming, including a world wide nominal temperature drop. Of course there is a small group of warmist zealots who will attempt to dispute/distort established fact in an attempt to serve their own political needs. An interesting point regarding Little Ice Age is that it correlates very well with an historically unprecedented increase in sun spot activity. Very interesting, and of course further supportive of the global nature of the event.

As decent caring human beings we tend to find capital punishment distasteful. We need to start thinking on a higher, deeper more rational and practical level that takes into account societies' true interests. What's the benefit to society of spending its hard earned wealth housing and caring for incurable child rapists? We don't, and shouldn't, squirm at the thought of killing cancer cells.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Wash. state casualty toll grows in Reno air crash | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports

During the late 50s a company, Cavalier I think, bought up a bunch of surplus Mustangs, modified them, and sold them to sport pilots. One of the modifications was a taller tail. The reason was that during the war a lot of pilots killed themselves during a go-around by applying full power - the sudden engine torque would cause the plane to roll onto its back. Although not a problem at high speed, it does demonstrate the plane's sensitivity to roll forces. My guess is that the loss of a vertical trim tab that had an unusually high offset would probably cause the plane to immediately roll. Still, a pilot of Leeward's experience should have been able to quickly react and maintain control, so I'm guessing there were additional factors involved. I hate to say it, but I can't discount his age.
