I don't understand why this word compromise keeps getting thrown around like it is. Here's the deal. The Pres and Dems want to rase the debt ceiling by 2 trillion (which means they will eventually raise the debt by that much). That's what they want! Now in order to allow that to happen you have to compromise with me, not the other way around. In oreder to approvce this increase, what are you going to give us? We already know what you want, you shoudl be asking us what you need to provide in order for us to allow that two happen. The only thing being passed across that table should be a peice of paper that says CUT,CAP, BALANCE, and get his party in line with it to vote the amendment into law ASAP, and attach 1 dollar of immediate cuts to every dollar the debt ceiling is raised.

Did anyone really need a crystal ball to know what this man was going to do. When forced to make cuts to govt the Democrat will make the most painful cuts first. Every Republican that gets in fromt of a TV camera, or a microphone between now and Aug 2nd needs to make it crystal clear that after that date the Executive makes the decision on where the money goes. HIS DECISION. HIS DECISION. HIS DECISION. The first part goes to pay the interest, and the rest will be there to fund the govt. He decides what parts of govt get funded. They should have a list of every dept, and program that could take cuts and put it next to the list of these "essential" benefits to ppl who have paid into these systems, and make it crystal clear that rather than cut the items on list A, he has MADE THE DECISON to cut the items in list B. Before that, Levin made a good point yesterday by suggesting that the House go ahead and pass an appropriations type bill that designates that the interest to the debt gets paid, SS/VA, Medicare and Medicaid payments get sent out, and take a vote on it, and send it to the Senate. Make them take a stand.

I don't understand a negotiation is a process of getting compromise so that both sides canget what they want. We already know what the dems want. They want to raise the debt ceiling by 2 Trillion. So the only question shold be, "What are you going to give us in trade?" I'd take two peices of paper in the office with me. One would say "Cut. Cap, Balance", the other would say two dollar in cuts. Either way they get what they want, and we get what we want, but it's obvious they want the revenue increases so come next year's elections they will be able to say that the Republican's raised taxes. Instead the story should be, the President would rather raise taxes than prevent a default of the US Govt. Not sure why it's so difficult.
