Those two books give the best intro ever to the Disc and then you can sort of choose your own adventure. Anything with Death or Susan as a major character is always equal part badass, thoughtful, and (sometimes) tear jerking, but I gotta love me my witches. When I grow up I wanna be Granny Weatherwax! I'm also so in love with Moist von Lipwig as a character and cannot wait until the next part of his trilogy comes out. The City Watch books are hilarious too. Nobby Nobbs needs a hug (but I don't think that there exists a person who'd be willing to do it.) The City Watch books are also great because they always have Lord Vetinari in them and I want to go to the Disc and play Thud (the Disc version of chess only more complicated) with that man. He'd kick my ass at it, but it would be amazing. Jeeze, now that I think about it, there are really no bad books in this series. If anything, the more stand alone books are probably the least good (Small Gods and Monstrous Regiment), but they're still better than most other comical fantasy out there. In Moff I trust, but I think my brain is going to explode from all this. As for River shooting, I can't see her being in on this, she seemed way too upset, but you're right that she should have been able to hit the astronaut suit no problem. My thought is that while she was hitting the suit, she wasn't hitting the little girl inside. That, or the giant air tank in the back of the suit absorbed all the bullets and they never reached the kid. Also, I think that there is way more to the TARDIS exploding then we've seen. I mean the voice we heard that was saying how 'Silence will fall,' sounded nothing like the Silence. While their voices could have been changed between series 5 and 6, I somehow doubt that Moffat would make a big change like that considering how much of 5 is proving to be a huge set up for 6. So, there's still someone out there who can speak in a mostly human sounding voice that still wants to murder everyone dead. And they're probably working with the Silence. Yeah. Similarly, the Doctor is too much for it so its designated pilots have to be somewhere between a human and a Time Lord. 5) The Silence knew who Amy was and, if that photo is to be believed, stole her daughter into the past for some nefarious reason. My theory? Either the Silence in the future convinced a Time Lord to build a less complicated TARDIS or they somehow got the knowledge of how to build it from the little girl or they cobbled it together themselves from many different species like the Spaceman suit was cobbled together. And then River slaughtered them all without breaking a sweat and it crashed into Craig's place. That or there's a SECOND one of those things out there which is too frightening for words. ....Or the Doctor defeating it in Lodger just sent it to the Silence who are repairing it. In which case I'd bet that the Silence are completely behind the little girl being able to regenerate. After all, if the pilot for the Lodger ship has to be between a human and a Time Lord, a human that's able to regenerate might fit the bill..... ........Gonna go watch the Lodger again and then obsessively watch these two episodes again and again until all their secrets become known to me.
